To our beloved Super Mini community and supporters in Lafayette and beyond...
It is with a heavy sadness in my heart and down to my core to announce that my business partner and I have reached the conclusion to close the doors of the Super Mini for good. It’s been a stressful and emotional stretch of time since shutting down due to COVID-19 in mid-March. I have spent day after day of running through different scenarios, playing with new ideas and approaches, weighing the constant stream of news of knowns and unknowns, evaluating current and future financial projections, soul searching for the right way forward, and digging deep for the wisdom to guide the next best decisions for our staff, the business and ourselves. It has been an agonizing process arriving at this decision that we have not taken lightly.
As the working partner, I poured my heart and soul, energy, hopes and dreams into making the Mini into a vibrant, bustling, safe space for people to enjoy delicious food and great service, and to find community and comfort – whether as a patron or as a staff member. I’m very proud of the fact that along with my entire staff, the Super Mini was a responsibly managed, thriving, joyful and healthy business, place of work and gathering space for our community.
I want to thank our customers - you’ve literally been the reason we got up in the morning! You gave us purpose every day and the opportunity to be successful and grow in our community and your hearts. Thank you to each and every one of you whether you came in just once while visiting family or friends, or you came in five days a week – we love you and are so grateful for your support, friendship and connections. Your faces, smiles, stories, hugs and doses of love will be deeply missed.
Thank you so much to my most amazing staff who has been dedicated and loyal, and the backbone and the heartbeat of the Mini since we opened in 2011. I’m so proud of and forever grateful for this solid group of hard-working, intelligent, talented people who made up our team and who co-created a kind and friendly space for our customers and each other to enjoy. Everywhere you worked whether in the kitchen or in the dining room, the Mini was alive with you and because of you. Your skills, humor, talents, and unique personalities graced the Mini and for that we’re all grateful.
Thank you to our reliable vendor partners and service providers who kept our food and supplies delivered and stocked, premises operating, and equipment humming from behind the scenes – we couldn’t have run smoothly and safely without you. Thank you to our Atlas Valley partners, business neighbors and their employees who have been friends and a great source of support over the years. Wishing you all the best, and that you have new and continued success in the days and years ahead.
While this is an extremely difficult reality and time we’re going through, I hope and we hope that you, our Lafayette and entire community, will hold on to your fond memories of the occasions when you gathered at the Mini, the laughter and conversations you shared, quiet moments you spent, the dress-up days, menu photo days, and all the great meals and dining experiences you had with us. Let's celebrate and remember all of that. We love you and will cherish it all.
Love,
-Nicole Plotkin, Owner-Operator/GM
