A couple weeks ago I got to stop at Camas Country Schoolhouse Bakery and Store, warehouse in Eugene! Finally!!! 😍
This has been on my list all summer! At Camas Country mills they grown their wheat, mill their wheat and selll the wheat berries and flour! 🤩
I am so excited to try a local product! Well as local as its going to get, I live in the Oregon high desert and have been buying grains from Idaho, Washington, Montana and Utah. I am so excited to try this local option and possibly switch over to a local grain. 🌾🧡
I will share more once I finally get to bake with them but thank you Rachel Harris for a great first time trip to Camas Country mills! 😃 She supplied me with knowledge of new grains, I had never herd of and helped me get 100 pounds of wheat berries at 9am, on a Monday morning, when I just walked in looking around. ☺️
I will definitely be back again and can't wait to stop by their bakery Camas Country bakery and store in Junction city! 🤗

What’s the difference between whole wheat and white flour?

Both start with the same wheat berry—the difference is which parts of the grain remain after milling.

🌾 WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR The entire wheat berry is milled: bran + germ + endosperm.
✔ More fiber
✔ Naturally contains more vitamins and minerals
✔ Richer, nuttier wheat flavor
✔ Contains the wheat germ and its natural oils

🤍 WHITE FLOUR Typically made primarily from the endosperm, with the bran and germ removed.
