I woke up early yesterday in hopes there would be some low lying fog. That did not happen, so I decided to photograph Rosie's Cafe. It's been on my list of places to photograph for quit some time. I actually have an image of it from about ten years ago, but I really wanted to improve upon it.

Earlier in the year, you may remember me starting a project called "The Quiet Hours" and thought this would be a great setting to go along with it. I just didn't have time to get in shot. They open up around 6:30am most days and the sun was rising well before they opened, making it impossible to get the look I was wanted. I love the mix of cool ambient light mixed with warm incandescent glow of the interior and that just doesn't happen when it's bright outside. And once they close, the lights are shut off so I couldn't take the shot in the evening. This meant I had to wait a few months.

Fortunately for me, the sun is now rising later in the morning. I have another image from the opposite side looking more north, but I prefer this version. The glass paneled widows on the Trane building along with the smoke stacks really add some interest to the scene. I also had to cut this shoot short since their food truck had just arrived. If you look closely at the stop sign, it's reflecting a red light. It then proceeded to park in-between Trane and Rosie's Cafe which threw the whole scene off. I don't blame them. They were just doing their job bring the delicious food to the cafe.

I might go back and try to photograph the scene again under similar lighting conditions. Hopefully not during the delivery time though. 'm undecided if I like the red glow on the stop sign or not, but am still very happy with the way this one turned out.

And if you have never been to Rosie's Cafe, I highly recommend making a visit. It's my favorite breakfast joint in the area. It feels like you're having breakfast at your grandparents house. It's just some good quality comfort food.
