Sweet Peas Play Cafรฉ is a creative establishment for parents and caregivers to bring their young children to play, explore, imagine and create in a Kokomo themed indoor play space, while they connect and interact with other local caregivers in a cozy cafรฉ lounge enjoying gourmet coffee and local favorite snacks.
This exceptional hybrid of adult and child space will create a unique sense of community among local parents and caregivers, a current void in the Kokomo area. The goal of this establishment is to create an invaluable epicenter where families with young children will feel comfortable toting their infants, toddlers and children and feel welcomed, connected and encouraged.
8 years ago while my husband (Kirt) and I (Krystyne) were stationed in South Korea with the US Army, I visited a play cafe with our two daughters who were not yet one and not yet two. The environment was one where parents could truly relax while their children played safely nearby. I had never before experienced anything quite like it! I visited a few times and the desire for something like this stateside was deeply rooted in my heart.
When we first returned to the states after our time the Army, we both went back to school and the dream of starting a business remained just that, a dream.
Fast forward to 2019 and weโve added a new baby to our family and the need for something like this in our area returned! An opporutnity arose for us to buy a seemingly perfect building for this type of business, and that gave wings to our dream! That deal fell through, but it allowed us an opportunity to REALLY make sure this is what we wanted to do. We decided through LOTS of prayer (and contractor visits to other locations, and calling about leasing space, and two community surveys) that we wanted to make an investment in our community and bring our vision to life with a brand new facility! So we purchased land and were able to secure financing to make our dream a reality!
Many play cafes are geared towards the preschool age crowd-not Sweet Peas! With two girls, ages 8 & 9, as well as an infant, we know weโre not along in needing a place that offers something for both age groups. We will host events and activities for a broad spectrum of ages and interests, as well as some special offerings for the homeschool crowd.
We will also offer our facility for private birthday parties and other events. In our area there are limited options for this, especially for those 1st-5th birthdays. Drop-off date night is a monthly event many people are excited about as well as our plans for Summer drop off camps next year!
There is so much still to do as we prepare to open our doors. Thank you so much for your support, we look forward to serving your family later this year, and in the future!
