Today's Kodiak Check-in:

One thing we’ve quickly learned about Kodiak is this island has an incredible sense of community… and the new Kodiak Marketplace is right at the heart of it all. Opened in late 2023, this beautiful downtown gathering space and Mall has become a centerpiece for local businesses, artisan gift shops, services, food and beverage options and a local co-op grocery store.

This morning I spent some time exploring the Kodiak Marketplace and absolutely loved the experience. I grabbed an amazing cinnamon bun from Bearfoot Bakery for breakfast, checked out the local offerings at the Kodiak Harvest Food Co-op meeting one of the local members bringing in her fresh canned salmon to add to the local Kodiak offerings table, then I enjoyed a Chai tea at Seagull & Raven Coffee, and of course I couldn’t leave without browsing the shelves at the The Islander Bookshop... Do you see what I see?

The Marketplace is filled with a variety of locally owned businesses and it’s well worth taking the time to wander through while visiting Kodiak. Places like this are what make traveling Alaska so special. ❤️
