The Empty Cup is a non-profit coffeehouse, with a special focus on great coffee, the Knoxville community, adoption and foster care support. We proudly serve coffee from two coffee roasters:

Just Love Coffee-based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has a heart for supporting adoption and helping those in need. Vienna Coffee Company-based in Maryville, Tennessee, has a heart for who we are and continues

to pour into our local community. We are blessed to be a part of a community with a heart for children and a willingness to get involved. We created an empty space whose sole purpose is to be filled and emptied again. We are The Empty Cup. It is empty, so there is a place to fill. YOU pour in, we will pour it out. We exist for the orphan; for the children who long to be welcomed home; for families. The Empty Cup’s net profits create adoption grants, adoption and foster care support and education in Knoxville and throughout Tennessee. We are currently accepting applications for employment. We would love if you could take a short break, read this post, and share it far and wide. It would mean more than you know — to me personally and to our incredibly hardworking crew.

Most entrepreneurs take the leap into opening a small business to share something they’re passionate about with the world. It’s almost always about loving and serving others. With such a high failure rate, you have to be a little crazy to do it. Success takes iron will, grit, unwavering determination, and an endless work ethic. And even then… sometimes it’s still not enough.

I took that leap because I love feeding people — and that’s still true today. Nothing brings our crew more joy than putting food in your hands and seeing you enjoy it.

We are so fortunate and forever grateful for your support. Richy Kreme has built a legendary reputation in our community, and because of that love, we’ve been able to grow into other endeavors — making cookies as big as your face, supporting local farms with our smash burgers, and fiercely serving our gluten-free community.
We love to feed you. And you’ve shown us so much love in return.

But right now, we need your help, we are calling in a favor. January has been hard for so many of our friends in small business. Really hard. I hate seeing people who pour their hearts into this community struggle quietly. I hate seeing my friends hurt.

So here’s what we’re asking: check in on your favorite small business. Even if you can’t stop in for a meal or grab a treat, you can still make a huge impact. Share their posts. Leave a review. Tell a friend. Tag them in the comments. It doesn’t cost a penny to help spread the word.

Knoxville and East Tennessee are full of incredible small businesses grinding every single day to serve you. They could all use a little extra love right now.
