The day has come for us to say goodbye — for now.
Nixon’s Deli #11 at 5716 Kingston Pike will close permanently at 6:00 p.m. tonight. We are sad to leave our Bearden home of 35 years, and we are grateful for every customer who made this location what it was.
We were unable to reach an agreement that would have allowed us to stay. We hope to return to the area. Follow us here for updates on a new home.

*Important notice to our Bearden customers*

After nearly 35 years of serving this community from our location at 5716 Kingston Pike, we are writing to let you know that Nixon’s Deli will be closing this particular restaurant at 5:00pm on September 10, 2026.

This location has been part of our family and part of Bearden for a very long time. The building itself has long been associated with Nixon’s, and we have been fortunate to build lasting relationships with so many of you over the decades. We are deeply grateful for your loyalty, your support, and the countless meals and conversations we have shared here.

The property has recently changed ownership. For many years we enjoyed a positive and cooperative relationship with the prior landlord. Under the current ownership, that relationship is ending,
and our tenancy at this address will conclude in mid-September.

We want you to know that this decision was not ours. We would have preferred to remain in this location and continue serving you here. We are actively searching for a new home in the area so
that this Nixon’s Deli can reopen and keep serving the same food, the same recipes, and the same community we have been part of for so long. As soon as we have a new address and opening timeline, we will share the news with you.

Until then, thank you for standing with us. It has been an honor to be part of your routines, celebrations, and everyday lives. We look forward to seeing you again soon at our next location.

Important Update from Nixon’s Deli 🥖

Over the past several months we’ve dealt with quality issues from our longtime local bread supplier. Our #1 priority has always been delivering the outstanding steamed hoagies you expect and deserve.

After six-plus months of searching for the very best solution—including meetings with multiple top-tier bakeries and even exploring opening our own bakery—we’ve made the difficult decision to end our partnership with the local supplier.

We’re currently in a short transition period, which means we cannot offer pumpernickel buns right now. Our white and wheat hoagies are available, and we genuinely believe the temporary buns are a noticeable upgrade in taste and texture.

We’re incredibly excited to announce our new partnership with a national bakery that will be baking premium pumpernickel, whole wheat, and white hoagie buns exclusively for Nixon’s Deli moving forward!

A slight delay has pushed the first delivery back, but we’re expecting the new buns to arrive Friday, March 6, 2026. Until then we’ll continue serving our current (and improved!) white and wheat options.

We know this isn’t ideal for our pumpernickel fans, and we didn’t make this change lightly. After 55 years in business, delivering the highest quality product possible will always come first.

Thank you for your continued love, support, and patronage — you really are the best customers anywhere. With these new buns on the way, we can’t wait to serve you for the next 55 years!

Knoxville’s steamed hoagies are a treasure, and we will never take that for granted.
