The theme park’s new Jumping Junction invites visitors inside fence to mingle with (but not touch) the bouncing animals

A new set of kangaroos and wallabies is keeping things hopping at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The animals — collectively known as a mob — make up the population of Jumping Junction, an attraction at the theme park’s Conservation Station. Visitors there are in close proximity to the full-time furry residents. They’re inside the fencing too.

Animal Kingdom is known for inviting its guests to come in and create their own story, where they get to be the center of that adventure. Having a walkabout — almost a Kilimanjaro Safari that you can do on foot — is just the next way for The Animal Kingdom to give its guests an opportunity to have a bigger adventure.

There are rules, people. Visitors must stay on the winding pathway within the fencing, and touching the animals is not allowed. Small groups of people are toured around by cast members, loaded with marsupial information. Meanwhile, the kangaroos and wallabies roam free, exploring and foraging, sometimes approaching the humans.

The Jumping Junction group features six wallabies, 10 red kangaroos and two Western grey kangaroos, which are less than 2 years old. This is a different set of animals than the Western greys seen near the park’s Tree of Life. That’s a breeding group, and the Jumping Junction mob is not.

Jumping Junction is set up in the former location of Affection Section, a petting zoo. It’s adjacent to the new Bluey’s Wild World, a character-driven play experience. Together they create an Australian atmosphere. The area is accessed via the Wildlife Express Train.

Going to Disney Springs is a must when visiting the Parks. Come stay with us at the Galleria Palms Hotel. Here is a couple of hints about when the best time to visit is.

If you’re setting aside some time to explore all the shopping, dining, and entertainment Disney Springs has to offer, you’ve probably pictured a leisurely day wandering from store to store with something delicious in hand. While that’s certainly the dream, however, there’s definitely a right and a wrong time to visit if you want to get the most out of the experience. If you’ve got the entire day to spare, you’re in for a treat. But if you’re only carving out a few hours, there are two favorite times that make for the perfect visit.

The number one choice is to arrive first thing in the morning. Getting there just before the shops open lets you enjoy the peaceful side of Disney Springs before the crowds roll in. Grab a coffee, take a stroll along the waterfront, and soak in the atmosphere while everything still feels calm. Best to aim to arrive around 9:45 a.m., wander for a little while, then head into your favorite stores before they fill with guests escaping the Florida heat. Once you have ticked off your shopping list, settle in for a late breakfast or early lunch before moving onto whatever adventure comes next.

The second favorite option couldn’t be more different, but it’s just as magical. If you’ve got dinner reservations or tickets to Drawn to Life, plan to arrive a little early and save your shopping for afterward. As the evening goes on, you’ll often find that many families with younger children have started making their way back to their resorts, and Disney Springs takes on a completely different feel. The live music, sparkling lights, and cooler evening air create such a lovely atmosphere for wandering, and it feels far more relaxed than the busiest part of the day. There’s something about strolling through World of Disney after dark that just feels a little more special.

Really best to avoid the middle of the day whenever possible, especially during the warmer months. Between midday and late afternoon, the shops can become packed with guests looking for a break from the heat.

The Magic of Disney Animation Opens September 14 at Hollywood Studios

The attraction also marks the return of a familiar name to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The original Magic of Disney Animation welcomed guests for more than 25 years before closing in 2015, and while this new version is a completely different experience, it continues the tradition of celebrating the creativity behind Disney Animation.

The new attraction joins the recently opened Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! as part of the reimagined Animation Courtyard, giving families even more to explore in this refreshed area of the park.

September will be an exciting time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, especially for Disney Animation fans. Guests can look forward to learning how to draw with Olaf, seeing favorite characters throughout the park, or revisiting a special area that has a rich history here. Starting September 14, everyone can enjoy Disney’s new celebration of animation magic.

Walt Disney World has confirmed that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will return to Magic Kingdom for the 2026 holiday season.

The separately ticketed after-hours event is one of the resort’s most popular holiday traditions, bringing festive entertainment, seasonal overlays, character encounters, complimentary treats, and plenty of Christmas spirit to the park.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will take place on select nights from November 8 through December 22, 2026:

The party officially begins at 7 PM, but guests with event tickets can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4 PM, offering three extra hours in the park before the festivities kick off.
Tickets go on sale July 16.
