When you're planning an Alaska adventure, knowing who's guiding you matters. We want you to feel confident before you even arrive that you're in capable, experienced hands from day one.

Meet Curt Schaumburg, our Head Guide and Adventure Manager.
For 14 seasons, he's returned to these wild rivers, untouched landscapes, giant rainbows, and up-close bear encounters that only Alaska can offer.
With over 20 years of professional guiding experience, Curt has seen it all—whether it's fly-fishing remote streams, kayaking alongside coastal wildlife, or positioning guests for that perfect bear viewing moment. But what drives him isn't just the adventure—it's watching a first-timer experience the thrill of their first salmon, a family mesmerized by a grizzly in the wild, and creating those moments that guests talk about for years to come.
Now in his second season with King Salmon Lodge, Curt is your go-to person for everything on the water and in the wilderness. He'll either be leading your adventure personally or assigning the perfect guide for your experience. Whether you're holding a fly rod for the first time, spotting bears through binoculars, or paddling Alaska's pristine waters, Curt's mission is simple: authentic experiences, safe adventures, and memories that outlast the photos.
This is who'll be taking care of you. Welcome back for another season, Curt. 🎣🐻

🐻 Bears. Fish. Alaska.
There's nothing quite like watching a massive brown bear pull a fresh salmon from the river. It's raw, it's wild, and it's happening right here.
Our guides know where the bears are feeding and when to get you there. Small groups, safe distances, and front-row seats to one of Alaska's greatest shows.
Pair it with fishing and you've got yourself the trip of a lifetime.

Who says "Roughing It" has to be rough? 🎣✨

One of the biggest myths about Alaska is that you have to choose between world-class fishing and a good night’s sleep. At King Salmon Lodge, we believe you can have both.

Imagine: Spending your morning in chest-deep waders, landing a 30-inch Rainbow... then spending your evening sipping a drink by the fire before a gourmet, chef-prepared dinner. 🥂🍴

It’s the raw adventure of the Naknek River paired with the comfort of a premier lodge. No compromises. Just Alaska, done right.

🎣 Fishing Friday Tip
Early season fish hold deeper in colder water. As the summer progresses, salmon push upriver in waves. Rainbow trout follow the spawn and key in on beads and flesh patterns. A little seasonal knowledge goes a long way, and so does planning ahead!
