782 cattle, 324 shp & gts, 18 pigs, 19 horses
The market on feeder cattle climbed yesterday in spots while slaughter cows took a slight dip. They did not take enough off to feel any effects from it at this time.
As we are all watching the latest information on the NWS, we are not yet being directly affected here in south Louisiana yet. This will continue to grow as we all know and there will be changes that affect us all. At this time, we are believing they will be related to travel restrictions, possibly requiring health certificates before transportation. With that being said that will be an issue between the salebarn and the buyers crossing state lines.
Our advice at this time would be to keep your cattle wormed, sprayed for flies, and monitor for open wounds especially if this starts moving our way. If anyone has any questions or concerns you can visit screwworm.gov for updates.
We will be closed June 29th in observance of the 4th of July. We will be open July 5th to accept cattle for July 6th.
