🚧 FINALLY… THERE’S A GLIMMER OF HOPE. 🚧

After almost three months of road closures, detours, no-left-turn signs, confusion, and watching local businesses struggle to survive, the County has finally started construction on South Kihei Road.

For some, it’s just construction.

For the businesses along this road, it’s hope.

Over the last three months, many small businesses have seen sales plummet as visitors and even locals assumed we were closed or impossible to access. Employees have lost hours, families have worried about paying bills, and business owners have been doing everything they can just to keep their doors open.

Today, for the first time in a long time, it feels like there may finally be a light at the end of the tunnel.

We know there is still a long road ahead, but seeing crews out there working means progress is happening. It means there’s hope that our South Maui community, our employees, and our local businesses can begin recovering from what has been an incredibly difficult few months.

Please continue to support South Kihei businesses during construction. Every meal, every drink, every purchase, every share, and every recommendation makes a difference.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to show up for local businesses when we needed it most. ❤️

South Maui needs your help, Ohana. ❤️

As many of you know, the continued closure of South Kihei Road near Kamaole II has had a devastating impact on local businesses from Kamaole Shopping Center through the Kīhei Akahi area.

Fred’s Mexican Cafe, Moose McGillycuddy’s, and so many other small local businesses are fighting to survive after already enduring COVID, the Maui fires, inflation, and rising costs.

Our employees are losing hours.
Families are losing income.
Local businesses are struggling.
Visitors think we are closed or inaccessible.
Even our already limited parking is being overwhelmed by beach traffic due to the closure and congestion in the area.

South Kihei Road is not just a road.
It is the lifeline of South Maui.

We are asking our community, visitors, friends, family, and anyone who loves Maui to PLEASE help us be heard.
