Hello Cómodo Fam and friends! We have so many new followers, I wanted to let you know about Café Cómodo!
Cómodo (KOh-mo-do) means comfortable (or comfy) in Spanish in honor of my Dominican-Puerto Rican heritage (and why you will sometimes see Latin inspired drinks on the menu).
I, Carol with the support of my partner, Travis, was working as a barista and started Café Cómodo as an in-home pop-up in April of 2025 where we served espresso, refreshers, and tea as well as fresh baked goods, free of charge to friends and anyone who wanted to connect with community and others.
Yes, we opened our home to strangers and it was beautiful.
We did our very first event at Card Carrying Shop (thank you, Bethany!) in Corning and our first market in Corning - where you will still find us every Thursday from 10-2.
In the slower season it’s usually Travis and I who you will see behind the cart. And in the summer months, it will be Antonio at register and sometimes David our oldest, and Liam, our youngest, not pictured here.
We run a legit and by the book operation and are highly scrutinized like any legit business would be. Our kids are actual paid employees, not just out helping mom and dad, we have all of our permits and health certificates and are inspected regularly- always passing with flying colors. We make all of our syrups and refreshers with fresh, natural ingredients in our commercial kitchen in Penn Yan, and use beans from local and New York State roasters.
We do not batch our espresso drinks, or our matcha. And our largest cold drink is 16oz (our largest hot drink is 12oz).
We do not have a store front or a truck, this little mobile cart is our whole operation! We do private events, markets, and other pop-ups from New York City to Rochester and everywhere in between. But you will often find us in Corning ❤️
When not behind the cart, we are running our marketing agency, Brave World Media (yes, we do all our own branding and marketing) and connecting with the community in this way.
Thank you all for your support, for spreading the word, and for being a part of our growing Café Cómodo family! See you out there soon!
