Holy smokes⦠as I sit here getting ready to clean up tonight, I canāt help but think about this past week.
So many people stopped in and told us how great the place looks. Friends came by to support us. Even on what was otherwise a slower Saturday night, we had a group hang out, enjoy some drinks, and remind me that every customer matters.
The guys that stayed until close tonight were just four younger dudes talking sports, drinking Busch Lights, and hanging out. I found myself standing there talking sports with them for a while too. Honestly, those are the kinds of nights I hope this place becomes known for. A place where people can come, relax, have a good meal, grab a drink, and enjoy each otherās company.
One comment in particular really stuck with me. We had a couple come in who had moved here from California, and the husband told me our tacos were the closest thing to the tacos back in Los Angeles that heās had since leaving. Holy smokes⦠that struck a nerve, in the best possible way. Hearing something like that means more than I can put into words.
Since we were a little short on servers today, I ended up bouncing back and forth between taking orders up front and running back to help Jesse in the kitchen. Normally Iām stuck cooking most of the night, so I donāt get much time to interact with everyone. But today I actually got to slow down, talk with people, joke around, and hear everyoneās stories. I forgot how much I enjoy that part of this business. Those conversations give me energy and remind me why I love doing this.
At one point my right hand man, Jesse, looked around during one of the slower stretches and said, āYou know⦠weāre not that busy, but almost everybody in here has been here before.ā Then he smiled and said, āGood thing for your regulars.ā
That really hit me.
To all of our regulars, seriously, thank you. You probably donāt even realize it, but your support is what carries small businesses through nights like that. Whether itās stopping in for dinner, grabbing a drink, bringing a friend, or just hanging out talking sports, youāre helping us build something special. We donāt take that for granted.
It wasnāt our busiest week, but it was one of my favorite weeks because it reminded me why we opened this place in the first place.
Football season is almost here, and I canāt wait to roll out some game day specials and cheer on our hawksļæ¼. Once weāre fully settled in, weād also love to start doing things like trivia nights and other events that bring everyone together.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for welcoming us, supporting us, and believing in us. We canāt wait to see you again soon. ā¤ļøš®š»
