Louisiana Seafood Season Update
Crawfish season is slowly coming to an end. We likely have about one more month left, possibly wrapping up sometime after July 4. The shells are getting harder, the meat is a little tougher, and the sizes are mixed — basically, crawfish are starting to act like they’re ready for vacation. Still good to eat, though! Crawfish lovers, get your fix before they disappear.
Blue crab season is ramping up, and right now the quality is excellent. We currently carry only #1 Louisiana Blue Crabs, packed full of meat. For those who love blue crabs, this is your time to shine — the crabs are showing out.
Gulf oysters during the summer usually have a lower meat yield, are less milky, and not as salty. We recommend ordering them charbroiled instead of raw on the half shell. A little butter, garlic, and fire makes everything better.
Gulf shrimp quality stays great year-round, so no worries there.
Right now, Louisiana blue crabs are hands-down the seafood to get. Highly recommended!
