☕️ MIDWEST BARISTAS — IT’S TIME TO THROW DOWN. ☕️

It’s been way too long since the Midwest has had a proper latte art throwdown, and we’re SO excited to bring the coffee community together again!

Bloom Coffee is hosting the 2nd Midwest Prairie Throwdown in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 15th!

We’ve got an incredible lineup of sponsors, some serious prizes and, most importantly, a reason to get baristas from across Nebraska and the Midwest in the same room pouring milk and having a ridiculously good time.

📍 Bloom Coffee | Lincoln, NE
📅 October 15th
⏰ Sign-up + practice pours start at 5:00 PM
🏁 First pour at 6:30 PM

Not ready to jump headfirst into pumpkin spice weather just yet? We get it. ☕️🍂

Might we recommend chai?

Warm, cozy and perfectly spiced, chai gives you all the feelings of fall without committing to pumpkin just yet. And at BDG, traditional spice and vanilla are only the beginning.

🍌 Banana Nut
🥕 Carrot Cake
🍪 Oatmeal Raisin

They sound a little unexpected, but trust us—they make ridiculously good chai. Hot or iced, this might just be your new favorite way to ease into cozy season.

What flavor should we make you first?

One thing we fought HARD for with our new UNK location? Bringing the whole Barista’s menu with us. 🙌

And yes—that includes Mermaids & Sunrises! 🧜‍♀️🌅

What started as two alternative energy drinks has turned into a whole world of combinations. Pick your flavors, mix things up, make it sweet, tart, fruity or completely your own. At this point, they’re about as customizable as your coffee order.

And because campus life occasionally requires a little extra assistance… 😅 if Red Bull isn’t your thing, our UNK location also has Alani to-go, available exclusively at the campus shop.

Full Barista’s menu + a few campus-only extras. Come find your new favorite. ⚡️

Okay, Kearney. We need you to understand how BIG this one is.

The cocoa that started behind the counter at Barista’s Daily Grind is now on the shelves at Nordstrom stores across the country.

Yep. That Nordstrom.

Our sister company, Cup of Coa, just launched its full line of cocoa flavors nationally with one of the most recognized luxury retailers in America.

And we really need our hometown to know: Cup of Coa is, and always will be, a Kearney, Nebraska company.

Long before there were beautiful tins and national retailers, there were Barista’s customers drinking our cocoa. You ordered it. You told your friends about it. You gave it as gifts. You helped us believe that something we made here could belong somewhere much bigger.

Now we’re taking that little Kearney secret with us.

If you’ve wondered why you haven’t seen Jasmin around the shops quite as much lately, this is a little piece of the answer. She believes so deeply in where Cup of Coa can go that she relocated to Omaha to be closer to an airport—and these days, that airport gets used a LOT. There are planes to catch, stores to visit and a whole lot of people around the country who still need to learn what great cocoa is supposed to taste like.

And we’re just getting started.

So Kearney, we need a favor.

Make some noise about this one.

Share this post. Tell your friends in other cities. Send it to your family across the country. If there’s a Nordstrom near them, tell them to go find the cocoa from Kearney, Nebraska sitting on those shelves.

And if you haven’t followed Cup of Coa yet, now would be a pretty great time. Come watch this little Nebraska company grow.

We’re setting out to teach the world a thing or two about true luxury.

Turns out, we learned the secret in a coffee shop in Kearney. ❤️

One of the things we’re MOST excited about at our new UNK location? We get to experiment a little. 👀☕️

You’ll still find the full Barista’s menu at all three shops, but being on campus gives us a pretty fun opportunity to play, learn and collaborate with all the different areas of study at UNK.

Think of West Center as a little bit of a BDG test kitchen. 🧪

First experiment: baked-from-scratch Pop-Tarts. 🤤 Flaky pastry, fun fillings and made right here for our campus crew.

Keep your eyes peeled, because we have more special features coming. And here’s where YOU come in: if something becomes a campus favorite, you just might convince us to roll it out at our other shops too.

Basically, UNK gets to help us do some delicious homework. 🎓☕️

📍 Still trying to find us on campus? We’ve got you!

We know not everyone speaks fluent “UNK buildings” yet. 😂 Hopefully this video helps!

Find Barista’s inside West Center (the old TB hospital building) right behind the new UNMC building and across the street from Viaero Wireless.

Come find us! ☕️💛

Apparently there are rules about when you’re supposed to announce Pumpkin Spice is back. ☕️🍁

We will not be following them.

Mostly because… Pumpkin Spice never actually left BDG. 😂 If you want a Pumpkin Spice Latte in April, we’re not here to judge your life choices.

BUT we get it. School is back, routines are returning, and suddenly that first sip of pumpkin just feels right.

So consider this your unofficial official permission to embrace fall a little early. 🍂

Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Pumpkin Chai. Pumpkin + caramel. Pumpkin + white mocha. Pumpkin + whatever fall combination your heart has been waiting for.

The calendar can catch up later. 🎃

There’s a lot more than one barista behind your drink. ❤️☕️

One person may take your order and another may make it, but everyone working that shift has a hand in making sure what reaches you meets the standards we’ve worked hard to build at Barista’s.

Our baristas watch each other, help each other, answer questions, catch mistakes and share what they’ve learned. That teamwork is especially important this time of year as new faces join our crew and begin learning the craft.

Transitions can be tough. There’s a LOT to learn behind that counter, and becoming a great barista takes time, patience and plenty of practice. But one of our favorite things over the years has been watching a nervous new hire slowly find their confidence, learn your names and orders, and eventually become one of those beloved BDG baristas you look forward to seeing.

So if you spot someone new behind the counter, say hello! They’ve got a whole team standing beside them—and we can’t wait for you to get to know them. ❤️
