The “Cheers of BBQ” poured its last beer… and rolled smoke right into the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest.
And somehow it all ends on the front page of the March 22, 2026 Houston Chronicle (), caught mid-CHEERS. Full circle. Stick a fork in us. That’s a (butcher paper) wrap!

Back in January, the Houston Chronicle planted a journalist, videographer and photographer with us and followed our journey all the way to cook-off.
What they captured was two months of organized chaos with late nights, early mornings, meetings, calls, logistics, constant problem solving… exhausting and messy at times, they were there for all of it. Giving them that level of access was both scary and awesome at the same time.
This event is a true labor of love for those of us who embrace the crazy. There really is nothing else like the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo cook-off.
As Paul Harvey used to say, “…and now you know the rest of the story.”
