Congratulations to Kyla Dunn and Caiden Aguilar, recipients of the 2026 American Royal Youth Rodeo Grant Fulton Award.

Known as the “Top Hand” Award, this honor recognizes contestants who exemplify the qualities Grant Fulton was known for throughout his life—sportsmanship, horsemanship and athleticism. A highly respected member of the rodeo community, Grant dedicated countless hours to teaching young people to rope, ride and grow as competitors.

We are proud to recognize Kyla and Caiden for representing the very best of the American Royal Youth Rodeo tradition!

Join us in honoring Mike Carlson, recipient of the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mike was a longtime volunteer, farrier and educator who dedicated decades of service to the American Royal and the horse industry. Since the 1970s, he was a familiar face around horse shows and field trips, sharing his knowledge and passion with countless young people throughout Kansas City.

As Mike once said, “One day you’ll be just a memory for some people. Do your best to be a good one.”

His legacy and impact on the American Royal community will not be forgotten.

Last week, the American Royal Ag STEM Camp gave students a hands-on look at the many careers, technologies and opportunities that power agriculture.

Through interactive experiences led by industry professionals, campers explored everything from farm equipment and landscaping to floriculture and outdoor construction. Students gained a firsthand understanding of the diverse paths available within the agriculture industry.

A special thank you to Walnut Pond Ranch, Red's Lawn & Landscape, Sarah Pence with the Midwest Region Pony Club, John Deere, Wade and Bill Welton, Alicia Hendron and Elizabeth Sturgis for sharing your time, knowledge and passion with our campers.

Two outstanding Youth Rodeo participants will each receive a $500 scholarship. Applications will be evaluated based on a resume, essay, rodeo performance and overall sportsmanship demonstrated at the 2026 American Royal Youth Rodeo.

Congratulations to the 2026 American Royal Scholars! 👏

These 10 outstanding students have been selected to represent the future of agriculture through the American Royal Scholars program. Each scholar will receive a scholarship and serve as an ambassador for the American Royal throughout the coming academic year.

Representing nine states and seven universities, this exceptional group of students will have opportunities to grow as leaders through industry engagement, professional development and participation in American Royal events while preparing for careers in agriculture, food and natural resources.

Congratulations to this year’s Clem McSpadden Award recipient, Molly Olson! 👏🏻

The Clem McSpadden Award recognizes an individual who has made a lasting impact on the sport of rodeo through leadership, service and dedication to preserving western heritage. Molly currently serves as Chairwoman of the American Royal ProRodeo Committee and is entering her fourth year in the role. She also serves on the boards of the American Royal, the Kansas Horse Council and the Saddle and Sirloin Club of Kansas City.

While Molly has long been a champion of food and agriculture, her passion for rodeo and the western lifestyle continues to shine through her leadership and dedication to the industry. We were proud to recognize her during the 2026 American Royal ProRodeo.
