Crimson Crunch is the second of our two fall seasonal releases, rounding out the autumn rotation alongside Brassica Blend. This mix brings together red cabbage, broccoli, mizuna, amaranth, and arugula. The earthy amaranth is mostly there to make your plate look fancy without any actual work (my favorite), while the mizuna and arugula bring a good, peppery kick that does not get lost under heavy salad dressings. It is a simple way to elevate a sandwich without needing a recipe or a culinary degree.

This tray of Brassica Blend will be harvested soon and marks the official shift into our cooler weather lineup. Even as the season starts turning, the the grow cycles keep rolling along.

Brassica Blend is the first of two new seasonal releases heading into the fall rotation. This mix brings together texsel greens, mizuna mustard, and broccoli microgreens. It leans fresh and mild with just a tiny bit of zip from the mizuna, because I've always assumed vegetables were suppose to have flavor.

This blend holds up well to warmer fall meals. It is an easy way to toss some fresh green crunch into hot soups, roast beef sandwiches , or just your morning eggs without having to chop up three separate bunches of greens. Use what you want for dinner, snap the clamshell shut, and the rest stays crisp in the fridge.

As always, now available at all our grocery partners:

Last week I picked up lunch from Liberty Street Lunch in Warren. I got their special of the day, which was a tomato basil balsamic sandwich. It was served on toasted sourdough with thick sliced tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, and a generous portion of microgreens. The balsamic reduction ties it all together with a level of precision you won't find just anywhere.

They were offering free fries with every order that day, which was unexpected and dangerous bonus. The fries were (and always are) perfectly seasoned. I also got two pork belly grilled cheese sandwiches for the kids, sans the pork belly. Apparently my children have strong opinions about what constitutes an acceptable lunch.

Everything they make is fantastic and they prepare much of their menu from scratch and use as many local ingredients as possible. If you're in Warren, I can't recommend them enough!

Yesterday I was able to get to Sugar Bay Catering and Scratch Kitchen for a visit.

They have been using our Veggie Vitalizer mix on their menu for a while now. Their weekly specials this week use it in their hot honey crunch wrap. It was an excellent lunch, especially paired with their freshly made cucumber salad.

It is always impressive to see how they integrate these greens into their menu. However, the standout might actually be their drink menu. They have an extraordinary assortment of options, and they make every single one with real, whole fruit from scratch. I got the blueberry green tea refresher (which was excellent), but their strawberry peach frozen lemonade might be one of the best summer drinks you will ever have.

Sugar Bay does high-level catering and charcuterie, too, so don't hesitate to reach out if you need some!

The Winery at Wilcox has been incorporating our microgreens into their dishes for a while now and I finally had the chance to experience some of their summer menu.

The shrimp tacos come with their house-made pico, which is made with our micro cilantro. I asked them to toss some of our veggie vitalizer mix on top, and they were happy to oblige! That mix includes broccoli, collards, turnip, purple radish and kohlrabi so it added a good crunch and a nutritional boost to an already amazing taco.

In the other photo is a pesto sandwich layered with salami, pepperoni, ham, provolone, romaine, tomato, onion, and a pesto cream sauce. Our veggie vitalizer is also in there, blending into the mix without overpowering anything.

It is always interesting to see how different restaurants use these greens in completely different ways. The Winery at Wilcox puts together some thoughtful dishes, and it is absolutely worth of a visit!

Here we have our second summer seasonal. Alpha Bites made its return to the rotation. I settled on the name because it covers the A-B-C of microgreens (arugula, broccoli, and cabbage), so consider it the smartest addition to your fridge🤓. While it has a slightly spicier profile than some of the milder blends, it is not overpowering. It is a good way to add a bit of personality to a salad or sandwich without overcomplicating things.

We grow this because it provides a consistent, flavorful option that is easy to keep on hand. You can grab what you need for a meal and the rest stays fresh in the container.

in Ridgway remains a one-of-a-kind coffee shop that stands out for good reason. All their bagels are house-made. This one is a spinach asiago bagel and, oh my.

They use my Mosaic Mix on their sandwiches. That particular blend includes broccoli, amaranth, red cabbage, and confetti radish, which adds a significant amount of color and flavor to the ham and egg. This is like the mother of all bagel sandwiches, and the depth of flavor is impressive!

Pair it with a classic salted caramel latte (or a million other drink choices). The Creative Cup crew clearly cares about the quality of their ingredients, and that dedication makes a noticeable difference in your food.

I highly encourage you to stop in and support them. Local coffee and local food are a winning combination!

It is a bit of a bittersweet goodbye to the Spring and Original Salad Booster mixes for the year, but the changing of the seasons means it is finally time to roll out the summer rotation.

Meet The Works! This is one of our two summer seasonal releases, and it definately earns its name. It is a hearty combination of broccoli, kohlrabi, collards, turnip, purple radish, endive, spinach, and lettuce. It gives you a massive variety of flavors and textures.

I designed this one to do heavy lifting in the kitchen. It has enough character to stand alone as a salad base, but it is versatile enough to toss into pretty much anything you are eating this summer. It is also a fairly efficient way to get a wide spectrum of nutrients without having to buy eight different vegetables that you might not finish.

If you are looking to restock your fridge with something new, keep an eye out for The Works! It is currently making its way to our grocery partners across the area:
