If you ever wonder why your cup of coffee tastes flat, lacking, or boring… a few ways to change that for the better:
1. Check whether your beans are fresh, and if possible grind your beans as you use them. Make sure they still have a pleasant aroma before brewing.
2. Use clean coffee beans, not defect-ridden beans. Before brewing, remove Quakers (yellow beans), and other bug bitten beans. The flavor of your coffee will be more crisp and much cleaner.
3. Use spring water or mineral water, and please avoid tap water. Chlorine content in tap water can make any cup taste off. And avoid distilled water as well, unless you plan on re-mineralize the water with mineral packets. Imagine minerals like magnesium are movers of flavor, they help transport flavor from your beans to your water.
