Happy Birthday

We want to wish our chef, owner and face behind Tight Tacos Maui, Reggie a Very Happy Birthday 🥳🎉

If you've never met Reggie, he's the smiley one in the apron usually cooking the line, banging out hundreds of taco plates at events or running around town picking up meats, produce and supplies.

In his free time, he likes to stop and talk story, loves to surf, loves to talk about surfing and did we mention he likes to surf? We are very grateful for his hard and honest work and want to wish him good luck on his next endeavor.

We are down to our last days folks and we want to continue to thank everyone for your love and support during our last month. Last Call

At this point, we've already announced it on Instagram and Facebook so the word is out that this is our last month of service. The response and amount of love we've been shown this past week has been TREMENDOUS. We knew we had regulars and people loved us, but we had no clue of the impact we had on this community and it's been a truly humbling and heart-warming experience for our team ♥️

Important Announcement

This isn’t at all an easy announcement to make, but here it goes...

this will be the last month of service for Tight Tacos Maui 💔

It’s nearly impossible to keep this short and simple because we have a million things we want to say and a hundred different emotions to feel, but you already know how much love we have for this community. Thank you from the depths of our hearts for your love and support these past 4 years.
We had a freakin blast with you all!

From getting the ‘Aipono Silver Award for Best New Restaurant in our first year of opening to all of our collaborations, events, weddings and parties 🥳 and to even feeding celebrities! It really has been an unforgettable time.

And not to mention all of the lifelong friends we've made along the way. Most of the things we've built here and are most proud of has been the relationships, connections and community we've experienced just though slanging tacos!

So what we're really trying to say is, thank you for letting us be here Maui 🙏🏽 Even though the time may feel too short, this small mom n pop shop in Kahului has been way more than we ever thought it could be.

To our staff, the real MVPs - you are the reason why we were able to make it this far. We've truly become like family during our time together and there are not enough words to thank you for your loyalty and dedication. Even though we have to say goodbye, we will hold on to all of the great times and go out with a bang!

Happy Thanksgiving

It feels like each year always has its set of hurdles and adversity (especially this year), but with that also comes so much opportunity and newfound strength. This island community is such a testament to that. We have a great amount to be thankful for and at the top of that list is all of you. Our customers, readers, followers, friends and anyone who has helped us spread the word throughout these years 💛🌮

We also owe so much of what we do and how far we've gotten to our loyal staff. The work we do isn't glamorous or ever easy, but they stick with it and make the dang thing happen.

Lastly, we want to thank all of the other small businesses, farmers, organizations and companies on Maui who have helped support us through a post, a collaboration or booking us for an event. We commend all of you for your community-centered values and undisputed grind.

Aloha From Maui

It's hard to believe it's almost been two months since the fires that devastated so many homes, schools, businesses and precious lives of loved ones. We are writing as a call to action to please continue to keep Maui and its families in need in your thoughts, on your radar and in your feeds. The more awareness, the louder their voices! 🙏🏽

We are definitely not speaking for everyone here, but our team has been trying to find the balance between offering our help, doing what we can to feed and support the Maui community, but also trying to embrace the things that bring some normalcy.

We are thankful to the companies and individuals who have booked us for private events. Thankful to the Maui Arts and Cultural Center for having us at the Maui Wildfires Benefit Concert Series. There is so much camaraderie and aloha on this island that we are so grateful to be a part of.

The Long Haul 🤍

It has been more than a month since the fires that devastated our island, but the local people of Maui were quick to act and are continuing to display true acts of aloha, sacrifice and selflessness. Countless community members, restaurant owners, local establishments and farms have found their own unique ways to help.

We partnered up with Noho'ana Farms to feed 52 family members staying in Honokowai. We are so grateful to be just a small part of a larger community and operation that is showing up in the places where support is needed. All of your donations and "Help Maui" meal purchases helped make this possible. We appreciate your ongoing support in all of these efforts 🙏🏽

We will be joining them on the West side of Maui again this Sunday and hopefully every Sunday that we are available and invited. On September 23rd, we will also be at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center for their Maui Wildfires Benefit Series where proceeds are dedicated to support the families affected by the fires.

Maui Still Needs Your Help

The people of Maui are continuing to come together to help the families who have lost loved ones, their homes and their entire community.

After major disasters, the most significant thing families need in order to rebuild and feel like they are able to have a tiny grasp on their lives again is financial support.

This fund is for every adult (18+) who had lost their home in Lahaina or Kula, whether they were renting or home owners, giving them $1,200 a month directly into their bank accounts.

Countless members of this community have been sacrificing so much of themselves and volunteering their time to help the families heal and build their lives back up, while so many of their own businesses are suffering and so many are being laid off. The economic state of Maui is in need and the community cannot keep supporting the families of Lahaina and Kula, if they cannot support themselves.

Two Weeks Later

It has been two weeks since the decimating fires here on Maui. The news has been starting to release the names of all the lives we've lost to the fires. Along with having to deal with the trauma of escaping the fires, the residents of Lahaina are now facing the indescribable amount of weight from losing family members, businesses, landmarks, schools, homes and their entire community.

As we give these families space to mourn, we are eager to find ways to continue to support them in any way we are able.

I know many of you have already been donating and sending monetary support from afar. If you are still looking for places to donate funds, here are three great ways that directly impact the victims of the fires.

Provides relief and recovery resources by focusing on the immediate basic needs of fire survivors

Amidst all of the loss and heartache, there is something very beautiful happening here on Maui right now. A collective of sacrifice, care and support that is completely breathtaking and humbling to witness.

We want to highlight a very special organization of people, Chef Hui (https://www.chefhui.com/) who we had the honor of assisting this past weekend. All of the island's amazing chefs including Chef Sheldon of Tin Roof and Tiffany's, Chef Lee Anne Wong of Koko Head Cafe and Papa'aina in Lahaina, Chef Kyle of Maui Fresh Streatery, Chef Isaac of Pacific'o in Lahaina, Chef Taylor of Kamado Maui and countless of others have put their amazing talents and big hearts together, working tirelessly to feed the community.

They are putting out over 10,000 meals a day that are being distributed directly to the families who lost their homes. The work is tiresome and the days are very long for these volunteers, but food is our love language and the. We also want to thank YOU. Together, you folks purchased a total of 281 Help Maui Meals that are going directly to the people of Lahaina and our first responders and their families. We also want to thank all of the vendors even from outer islands who reached out and donated fish, meats, rice and supplies towards our cause. This Hawai'i community is truly one of a kind.

In these ongoing days and weeks ahead, Tiare Lawrence has asked the Maui community to wear red to show our support of the people of Lahaina.
