Roadside citrus stands shaped like giant fruit used to line Florida's highways by the dozens. 🍊

Through the 1950s and 60s, stands like this one were a common way for citrus growers to catch the attention of tourists driving between cities, often selling fresh fruit, juice, and souvenirs out of buildings built to look exactly like what they were selling. Most disappeared once interstate highways rerouted traffic away from the old two lane roads, leaving only a handful of these relics still standing for people willing to take the slower route.

Finding one of these still intact feels like stumbling onto a piece of the state that almost didn't make it. Do you remember stopping at a roadside fruit stand like this one on a family road trip?
