Hooray, you're halfway there! Today is day 4 of the .seak and we are in the midst of a food preservation frenzy! Because so much of our local foods are available during only part of the year, it's important to know how to preserve and store these foods to use later (or know people who do this!).

Today's question is: What are three (3) food preservation methods or tools you are interested in learning about for preserving foods that are harvested here in Southeast Alaska? Post your answer, along with a photo of your local foods meal on our page, or send us an email at [email protected].

Today is day 3 of the .seak! We can help our food system to be stronger by reducing food waste and transforming food scraps into compost for local gardens and farms. This helps us keep valuable foodstuff out of our landfills, reduces greenhouse gases and smells, and helps create valuable soil amendments.

Today's question is: What are three (3) things you are already doing or would like to do in the next month to reduce food waste and recover/transform food scraps into valuable nutrients for our food system? Post your answer, along with a photo of your local foods meal on our page, or send us an email at [email protected].
