From One Food Truck to Alaska’s First Food Truck Park
In 2016, Deckhand Dave stepped off the fishing boat and into a small taco truck with just three employees and a dream: serve up the freshest Alaskan fish tacos in Juneau.
What started with a fryer and a lot of grit quickly became a local favorite. By 2019, Dave had turned a gravel lot into Alaska’s very first food truck park...with no water, no electricity, and only a one-year lease. But the community showed up, and that little idea grew roots.
In 2021, the oyster & champagne bar opened, giving Juneau a place to gather for shucks, bubbles, and good company. Then came the purchase of the historic Elks building and a major expansion of the park in 2023, pulled off in just six months.
Today, with 24 employees, Deckhand Dave's is more than just a place to eat...it’s a piece of Juneau history, built on big risks, long nights, and a whole lot of community support.
Here’s to where we’ve been… and what’s still to come. 🌮🌄
