Friends!

We want to make it clear that we are not censoring comments! We know that many people do not approve of AI generated marketing photos and we respect everyone's opinion!

Facebook itself has taken the liberty to "hide" comments that it finds offensive, graphic or in this case "unrelated".

We are trying to correct that setting as we find all of your comments valid and important, but we cannot promise that FB will not continue to do their own moderating.

Travel safe and wander free!

WE HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS! 🏆
The Short Rest has officially been recognized as the #1 Family Restaurant in Joplin for 2026 by BusinessRate! Calculated by an algorithm through Google.

This recognition is based on verified customer feedback and Google Reviews — which makes this one especially meaningful to us. ❤️

To be clear, this is not a local award nor is something that we were nominated for or voted on. It came from you — our customers — and the experiences you've shared about The Short Rest.

From the very beginning, we've wanted The Short Rest to be more than just a place to grab a meal. We wanted to create a place where people could come together, make memories, enjoy good food, and feel like they had found their own little corner of the realm.

To everyone who has eaten with us, left us a review, brought friends through our doors, attended an event, supported us during the hard days, or simply told someone about us:
Thank you. Truly. This belongs to you as much as it does to us. 💜🫂

We're incredibly grateful to be part of this community and are excited for everything that is to come.

Well, we had an accident and lost a staple to the Rest.
Our 4 month old perpetual soup was lost to us all.
We were really proud of that soup and will miss it indeed.

However, out of loss comes rebirth, and so today marks day 1 of our new perpetual soup!
And this time, no beef or pork!

Indubitably our soup will now not only be GLUTEN FREE but also safe for those patrons with ALPHA GAL!

Turkey, chicken and eggs will be the only meats in this batch and that way it shall remain.

Come in today and be among the FIRST to try the new batch!

Come one, come all, weary travellers!

In accordance with the celebration of Pride, with help of our hunting party, we bring to our wonderful community a treat for our rainbow siblings and their allies!

For every turkey leg purchased, a free mocktail of one's choice!

Come and eat your fill, drink mocktails to your heart's content, and be merry among kindred souls.
