The deli has been closed for two days.

Which means by now there are people who have convinced themselves they can wait a little longer for their favorite sandwich.

Historically, that strategy has a very low success rate.

The slicers are running again.
The boards are ready.
And the first W&Y Italians of the week are officially back in circulation.

Another week in the books.

Hundreds of sandwiches made, countless conversations had, and more than a few people who stopped in "just for one thing" and left with a whole lunch.

That's our kind of week.

If you're out and about today, swing by and grab your deli favorites. Laura also has a fresh batch of Ginger Snaps in the case today. Perfectly spiced, baked from scratch, and exactly the kind of cookie that disappears faster than planned.

Somewhere in the Adirondacks right now, somebody is thinking:

The first few people through the deli door every week always fall into the same categories.

The “I’ve been thinking about this sandwich since Sunday” people.

The “let me look at the menu for absolutely no reason because I already know what I’m ordering” people.

And the “I’m just grabbing something small” people who leave carrying enough lunch for an entire afternoon.

The ecosystem is healthy around here.

Also on the bakery side today, Laura has chocolate brownie cookies and classic chocolate chip cookies in the case.

Sunday Sandwich Debate:

There are people who walk into the deli and confidently order the exact same sandwich every single time.

No hesitation.
No menu glance.
No thought process whatsoever.

Then there are the people who stare at the board for 14 minutes like they’re drafting a fantasy football team before somehow ordering… an Italian again anyway.

The debate is simple:

Is loyalty to your go-to sandwich respectable…
or are you obligated to branch out once in awhile?

Rainy Saturdays in the Adirondacks have a very predictable pattern.

Everybody wakes up thinking they’re gonna stay home, get things done, maybe eat something simple.

Then around lunchtime the rain keeps going, the couch starts winning, and suddenly the idea of a giant deli sandwich, and absolutely zero effort in the kitchen starts sounding a little too good.

That’s usually when the door starts swinging open around here.
