50 years ago today, the first time in history, a woman stood on top of Mount Everest. A year prior to the opening of Ozu, Shinako started filming the documentary in Japan, about the all-women expedition team that made it happen and Nepal…which some of you know.

We are sorry to announce that Ozu Foods will be closing, as we plan to move to Japan. Our last business day will this Saturday, May 25th. We would like to thank all of our customers for supporting us throughout the years. We will miss you all.

Flashback…This little piece of Tokyo opened its doors on November, 2015. Better or worse, the neighborhood was a lot different back then (though only 9 years ago), and we got many friendly advices to lower our bar because we were “too expensive and won’t make it” 😅
As a pair of long time Jersey City Heights residents, we created an eatery that we would be excited to have it around as a customer. Hope you guys feel the same. Thank you for your support💕

Yes, our miso soup is GLUTEN-FREE, no-MSG & Non-GMO as we use Yamajirushi brand miso and House Foods brand tofu. And of course, we make our dashi (stock) from natural ingredients, for both traditional and vegan miso soup.
