Brickhaus is open only one Sunday a year…and it happens to be this Sunday! September 20th we are open 8am-noon only! (because hey, we want to partake in the festivities too! 😉)

We got some food specials,…some fresh fruit margs,…some fancy Wisconsin Bloody Marys,…and some house-made German chocolate cupcakes. Oh! and the usual stuff too. What more could you want before the grand ol’ Gemütlichkeit parade?! We hope to see you then.

And we hate to be the bearer of bad news,…but Brickhaus will be taking our (super late) summer break next week. Yes, yes, we’re not entirely sure if it’s considered summer any longer, but the past few months were a blur, and time got away from us. We will be closed Sept 21-28 in order to allow all employees some time to rest, recharge, spend time with loved ones, and perhaps grab a coffee at another stellar small business.

So you mind as well stop in on Sunday! 🇩🇪

❄️—WINTER BREAK NOTICE—❄️

Hello! Every year, we take a lil break in the winter in order for all employees to have time to rest, re-charge, and spend with family/friends. That break is next week! February 9-14. So if you want your Brickhaus fix, stop in today or tomorrow….or better yet, BOTH!

Working in this industry can be a whirlwind, and sometimes doesn’t allow much time off during the holiday season. So we push off our “holiday break” further into the new year where it’s naturally a little slower business-wise. Some employees have trips planned, projects planned, downtime planned — and we also have our, very belated, work holiday party planned! We truly appreciate this time off and recognize that we are lucky to be able to do so! 💙 We hope to see you when we get back!

(Honestly, we just want to watch the Olympics 24/7 next week…😉)

Brrr….its going to get COOOOLLD! 🥶

They’re saying wind chills as low as -45* Friday morning…and if my hairy Anatolian Shepherd pup doesn’t even want to go outside, I’m thinking my employees shouldn’t be going outside and traveling to/from work either. That being said, I told the Brickhaus staff to stay warm in their homes, BUT! since I live about 14 steps from the cafe, I’ll be here 7am-9:30am Friday morning, serving beverages and pastries only. (No kitchen tomorrow though, since I can’t be both the front of the house and back of the house at the same time, sadly). So if you want to brave the cold and warm up with a hot coffee/latte, swing by! I also just made some fresh carrot bran (with pineapple & pecans) muffins that might hit the spot too.

Many small businesses slow during the cold months of January & February…especially in our industry and especially when it gets reeeeaally really cold. But the minute that sun shines, and temps rise above freezing, and its more comfortable to walk the downtown, be sure to hit up your local boutiques, bakeries, antique/gift shops, tanning salons, and cafe/restaurants. And hit them up hard. 🤍🤍
