The month of May, we spotlight The Sermersheim Sisters, Ella Sermersheim (left) & Lydie Sermersheim (right)..

But this story starts years ago with two hires, Allison Vogler (The Farmer & The Baker, and Kami Schmitt Hopf.. they were the first two ladies of high school age, rather than adults, that I allowed the task of carrying on cooking in the kitchen of the CP. Had these two ladies not knocked it out of the park, I'm not sure this story would be written. But not only did they do great, they set the bar for a work ethic that is still followed today!

One of the most common compliments we receive is about our German Fries. Meet two of the best to make them, Ella & Lydie. Both trained by who many consider the best to ever make them, Marilyn Bueltel! Both of them were hired as dishwashers in high school and quickly showed us that they were much more qualified. It didn't take them long to catch on and today either could run the kitchen if need be. Both prefer to "work the cast iron skillets" of preparing potatoes and plating food vs frying chicken and that's ok. Both lead by example, show up when they are scheduled, very rarely call in sick, and both bring a warm smile to work.

Ella recently has taken up "fishing" and doesn't work as much as she once did, but you can always find her in the kitchen on Wednesdays and some weekends. Lydie you will see most Friday nights and the occasional weekday when her college classes ( or her boyfriend) 😁 don't interfere.

Either way, these two girls have done a lot for the CP since they were hired and we are so glad to have them. We only wish Jeremy & Melanie would have popped out about 8 more just like them, we would hire them all!

Girls, thank you for all you do, you two continue to show by example exactly what a little effort can do! Keep up the great work and continue flipping those taters!

Did you know you can make online reservations up to 24 hours in advance of your arrival? Simply log onto our website at www.chickenplaceireland.com, click on the reservations tab, and fill out the required information. As things pick up this summer, reservations are highly recommended!

We realize we're not everyone's cup of tea, but these "best of" tell us that we are doing something right. If you've tried us in the past and not found it up to your liking, tonight is the night to come try us again. We actually blushed at the article a bit, however, it's EXACTLY what we try to do... very nice that someone recognized it, and took the time to publish a story about us and our great customers.

This Indiana spot proves history tastes better fried. Seriously, 80 years and still perfect.

As The Chicken Place is well into its 78th year of operation, we wanted to take a few months to recognize some of our hard working employees..

We start in April and recognize our longest tenured employee Carol Leinenbach. Carol has been serving up fried chicken dinners for 53 years!!!! Yes, you read that correctly.. we often joke with Carol that she's been an employee here since the "Dead Sea was just sick"! Carol's father -in-law Amos Leinenbach started The Chicken Place in 1948, so I guess it's safe to say, a part of his family is still employed ! But in all honesty, employees like her are hard to come by. She shows up with a smile, works with a smile and leaves with a smile, we have to ask Kenny if that lasts when she gets home 😂.

We are blessed to have Carol and we know many of you come specially on nights she works just to have her wait on you! So with that being said, thank you Carol for all your hard work and all your help in making the CP what it is today!

Please help us congratulate her on 53 years of wonderful service to our customers! The CP and its employees love Carol.
