Meet half the Central Merc Team!
Lela (Effner) Street and Sara Effner— Sisters who grew up in Jamestown. Sara Effner Lela Effner Street
Lela, a wife and mother of 10, with 3 kids still at home in Latham, makes all our delicious, fresh baked goods. Insisting that each one is served to perfection, she never lets a bad batch be put out. She also manages the finances and Mercantile building maintenance. The coffeehouse was her idea, and with help from Sara, they came up with the “Friends” theme and the name “Central Merc.”
Sara, who has over 10 years of customer service and editing experience, lends her skills to our marketing team. She often attends special Central Merc events to help out, driving up from Rolla, where she lives with her husband and son. Some of you may be familiar with the “Priceless Antiques” drawing we have on display and on t-shirts, which Sara created in high school to capture the friendly spirit of Jamestown.
Lela’s daughters Chelsea (Street) Hynes and Sandy Street have worked many long hours together to transform the doll shop into the coffeehouse with its own special vibe, while showcasing The Mercantile's history. We'll tell you their story soon. Stay tuned for more.
