A post we didn’t ever anticipate having to make😔💔
JFD inspected our building this week, and deemed our kitchen unsafe for cooking without making necessary safety updates. Although we’ve been cooking for 9+ years in our kitchen, and prior to us, the space was a cafe for 20+ years, laws and regulations change, and of course we want to obey the laws and comply. Our building owner, Sleiman, has been SO helpful in trying to work with us to find a solution, but ultimately any outcome would require us closing for an unknown amount of time, waiting on permits and the city for approvals.
We’ve explored a few other options (cooking off site, moving locations) but after heavy prayer as a family, we’ve decided it’s best to close our doors for now! Our LAST DAY OPEN will be tomorrow, SATURDAY 2/3, 5-9, at our Mitt Makers Market.
We hate that this has happened so suddenly, and didn’t want to turn the market into a good bye party, but we’d rather keep you all in the loop, and give everyone a chance to come by say hi, and grab a taco, one last time🥲
Many have asked what they can do to support us, come to our market and help us go out with a bang! 🥳We hope to sell out our food, mitt merchandise, jars of fresh salsa, and we’ll also have items from our cafe up for sale. (Kitchen things, decor, equipment)
Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of our loyal customers, friends and family. We’ve had so many good times at our cafe, and have been happy to share our cooking and a place that’s special to us with you over the last 9+ years.
We don’t know what the future will hold, keep following along and see what our next chapter will be!
