English Version
The way I was taught to make it, brandy isn't always part of the recipe. Traditionally, it was reserved specifically for wedding and *quinceañero* cakes. However, nowadays there are countless variations that incorporate different flavors, extracts, and liqueurs.
One of the defining characteristics of *bizcocho boricua* (Puerto Rican cake) is its delicious almond flavor and wonderfully moist texture.
Although many recipes start with basic ingredients like flour, eggs, sugar, and butter, every baker has their own way of making it and adds their own special touch. Some use lemon zest, orange extract, butter extract, milk, and other ingredients that enhance the flavor, aroma, and texture.
That’s the magic of baking: the same tradition, yet with each baker's unique touch. ✨
