Yesterday, the Old Country Store was proud to welcome Congressman David Kustoff for a Restaurant Roundtable hosted on behalf of the National Restaurant Association.

Around our table were West Tennessee restaurateurs Ashley Mynatt of Flat Iron Restaurant Group and Terry Trim of Ciao Bella, along with State Rep. Chris Todd and State Sen. Ed Jackson. We talked about how federal policy and laws impact everyday Americans, from the Team Members who work in our restaurants to the families who dine with us. Our Team Members are already seeing the positive results of no tax on tips and no tax on overtime, and we were glad to share that firsthand. We also discussed the economic conditions facing restaurants and the people of West Tennessee.

Earlier in the day, the Congressman toured the DoubleTree by Hilton Jackson for the American Hotel and Lodging Association's Heart of the House program, which gives elected officials a look at the inner workings of a successful hotel, including catering and housekeeping. General Manager Sherry Baker and Director of Sales Mary Ross led the tour, highlighting the property's ongoing renovations. Visit Jackson TN's Beth Bolton and Paige Keith joined as well.

Both events were coordinated through the Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association, where Brooks Shaw and Terry Trim serve on the board. Conversations like these help our elected officials understand what it takes to serve our Guests and support our Team Members every day.
