We work with the Chef Ann Foundation throughout our county. We have a great group of leaders. This has allowed us to support each other and start more scratch cooking in our schoolโs. Change has to start with us.
Ultraprocessed chicken nuggets shouldnโt be the defining protein of the American school lunch.
Yet a new report from Friends of the Earth and Chef Ann Foundation reveals that ๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฑ breaded chicken products are Americaโs most common school lunch entrรฉe, served on more than half of school days. ๐This is a direct result of a broken system that leads children to consume high amounts of processed meat and cheese, which can cause negative health impacts.
To serve children higher-quality animal and plant proteins in school meals, we must overhaul the school food system and update federal policies so schools have the equipment, funding, and ingredients to
Every day we delay passing critical policy, like the Scratch Cooking Act, millions of kids are more likely to have increased health risks like cancer, type-2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
Read the report, get informed, and advocate for scratch-cooked school meals today. โก๏ธ [https://foe.org/resources/beyond-the-nugget/]
