The story of East Coast Roast began when retired NYPD officer Richie Comuniello and his family were getting drowsy in the car on a long drive back from the Adirondacks. It wasn’t long before they spotted a simple yet quaint coffee house at the foot of the mountains, and like most tired Americans, they didn’t think twice about passing up the opportunity for some much needed caffeine. The earthy aro
ma was a total departure from any other coffee shop they’ve ever been in. That plus the warmth of the owning family and coziness of the house all added to the magic of this new coffee world the Comuniellos found themselves in – and they didn’t even drink a cup yet. Richie put his lips to the glass and, after taking a sip, widened his eyes and asked, “Why can’t all coffee taste like this?” The owner replied that true artisan coffee is home roasted in small batches by people who put as much love into their coffee as they do into their families. With that, Richie decided then and there that he would never again take for granted what he poured into his cup in the morning. The lightbulb that went off in his head was something much greater, and the genesis of East Coast Roast. Now, the Comuniellos are roasting around the clock to ensure that Americans on the east coast and beyond will never take for granted their morning ritual of coffee drinking. At East Coast Roast, we’re not just roasting great coffee, we’re also instilling the idea that the taste of coffee should be enjoyed every bit as much as the edge it gives you. From our cup to yours, enjoy!
