The Island Falls Opera House is entering its next great chapter!

For more than 130 years this building has stood as a witness to the history of our community! It has survived changing times, changing generations, economic challenges and years when many would have assumed its best days were behind it! They were not!

Today the Island Falls Opera House is being reborn!

What was once a largely forgotten landmark is becoming one of the most unique destinations in Northern Maine! Travelers are discovering it! Locals are gathering here! New memories are being created within these walls every week! The story of this building is no longer about what it was! It is about what it is becoming!

The Red Tape Tavern is growing into a place where neighbors become friends and visitors feel at home! The Inn continues welcoming guests who are looking for something more meaningful than an ordinary stay! The historic theatre above remains the soul of the building and is being preserved for the generations who will one day sit beneath its ceiling and experience its beauty for themselves!

The future of the Opera House is not being imagined! It is being built!

Every guest who walks through our doors strengthens it! Every event held here adds to it! Every room booked, every meal served, every tour given, every story shared and every word of encouragement moves it forward!

The Island Falls Opera House will continue to stand as a symbol of what determination, community and perseverance can accomplish! It will continue attracting visitors from across Maine and beyond! It will continue bringing people together! It will continue proving that historic places still matter!

Years from now people will look at this building and see more than an old structure! They will see a place that was given a second chance! They will see a community that refused to let an important piece of its history disappear! They will see what can happen when people choose to build rather than abandon!
