Celebrating Shirley “Gramma Honey”
After more than three decades of baking, Shirley—known lovingly by so many as Gramma Honey—is hanging up her apron and beginning a well-earned retirement.
Shirley began her baking journey in 1992 at Lynn’s Cozy Café and later continued her passion at Wilsons Rivers Edge when that location became a permanent home. When Wilsons was sold in October 2025, Shirley brought her talents to Jake’s Rivers Edge, where she continued doing what she loved most—creating homemade baked goods that people eagerly looked forward to enjoying.
Throughout the years, she has baked thousands of pies, cakes, cookies, and countless other sweet treats that have brought comfort, joy, and memories to generations of customers, friends, and family.
But for those who know her best, her legacy is about much more than the baked goods she created. Her pie table was never just a place where flour, sugar, and butter came together to make something delicious. It was a place of love, laughter, wisdom, and belonging. It became a safe haven and gathering place for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Many little hands stood beside her there, learning not only how to make a perfect pie crust, but also the importance of family, patience, hard work, and kindness.
Through every pie she rolled, every cookie she frosted, and every cake she decorated, Shirley shared a piece of her heart. Her recipes may have fed thousands, but her love has nourished generations.
As she begins this next chapter, we celebrate not only an incredible baker but an extraordinary mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mentor, and friend. Her impact reaches far beyond the kitchen, and the memories she created will continue to be cherished for years to come.
