Good morning to all. Skaets had a short outage early this morning. Sooo sorry for the inconvenience to our customers.
Skaets is up and running again. This is meatloaf Saturday and it's about ready to come out of the oven. Have a great weekend.

We have certainly been enjoying the great weather and had the opportunity to get caught with yard work.

Of course it's Halloween next week so be safe and have a wonderful time. Seems like after the State Fair the Holidays start coming quicker each year. Next Thanksgiving then Christmas. Then another New Year.

We would like to get the word out that Skaets needs an additional Cashier.
This will be at least a 4 evening per week position so it would be ok for students that are at least 16 since it's after 7P.M. on a school night. Additional hours would be available if needed.

Welcome Kansas State Visitors 2023!

Each year as the Friday noon grand opening occurs, the skaets south exit will be closed in order to prevent accidents due to the hundreds of fair goers that utilize Gate 3. During the final stages of the new fire station construction recently the local crowd got accustomed to leaving the parking lot via the main street exit so hopefully everyone will catch on.

Skaets will be opened this Monday September 11th from 6 A.M. to 9 P M.
This once a year Monday opening has been a custom since before 1975.

During the 2023 fair, skaets will continue meatloaf Saturday and other daily specials except sloppy Joe Thursday. This may be great for quicker in and out for those that have very limited break schedules. CALL IN TO GO ORDERS are also welcome for those with limited schedules. Just let us know what time you need to pick up your order. See the full menu at skaetssteakshop.com or pick up a to go menu when you are in.
We will keep in touch this week. Meanwhile, enjoy your time at the fair. The Skaets parking lot is reserved only for those dining at Skaets so hopefully
The extra traffic won't keep you away .

Happy 4th of July!
Just getting the word out that Skaets hours of operation today is 6 A.M. until 3 P.M.

For those traveling have a safe and enjoyable Holiday. For those getting caught up with yard work don't get over heated. For those having picnics have a great time. For those staying home, all caught up and don't wish to cook and clean up come on down to Skaets.

As we have watched the construction of the high tech new firestation our most dreaded stage is when they were to begin the replacement upgrade on the State Fair Gate 3 Road just south of Skaets Steak Shop. Mostly because the unknown Spring weather in Kansas.
The construction started last Monday morning and may take 2 or 3 weeks to complete.

We are thankful to Brian at the State Fair office in keeping us up to date on the construction activity as the road portion got closer.
And to Nate with Weins and company now keeping us posted on the street replacement.

HATS OFF to our friendly neighbors on the North side of Skaets. The Hutchinson Postal Credit Union is allowing our employees to park behind their offices which leave additional spaces in the Skaets lot. ALSO for ONLY WEEKEND BUSINESS AT SKAETS, customers are able to park on the lot directly to the north of the Skaets lot. THANK YOU Rosa and the Board of Directors for helping out.

As in the last few years with everyone sticking together helped to get thru situations never thought possible. Another example of Hutchinson helping each other thru thick and thin. We can't be more appreciative for everyone's support

HAPPY NEW YEAR HUTCHINSON

This morning started out very busy and it's un common to see so many cars buzzing around on 30th and main Street at 6 A.M. I thought I was late for work.

This year, as apart of Skaets Christmas we celebrated the happiness that employee fur babies brings to us. Many times after shift when we break for our late lunch we talk about all the new things the pets are doing and laugh alot because they are all very spoiled but very loved.

We wish to send out a big thank you to all the customers that frequent Skaets. We appreciate your support for shopping at local businesses. We are thankful for the support from our vendors thar provide us with product during times that some things are hard to find.
Very thankful for employees that show up everyday and work hard to do the best job they can. Plus can't forget all of the support from the Chamber and those that provide other services such as banking and accounting services. All working together has been amazing. THANK YOU

Good morning. Simply cannot believe that Christmas is so close. Skaets will be open until 3 P.M. on Christmas Eve Day. Then closing so the staff can get to their famy events. Skaets will also be closed Christmas Day. Opening again as usual at 6 A.M. Tuesday.

This week Morgan School held their ginger bread version of the City of Hutchison. Viewing for the public was Wednesday morning and what a showing. I had the best time walking thru the displays and searching for Skaets Steak Shop. The young engineers did a great job and they were so excited. Definitely Christmas was in the air. As they posed so proudly I discovered one if the young men actually drank his first glass of chocolate milk on his 1st birthday. Then I realized that we are going into the 7th generation of customers. WHAT A FABULOUS DAY.

This Christmas we decided to celebrate more with all the Skaets fur babies. So pictures were gathered up and a few trips to hobby lobby and the special calage was put up on one of the inside window. They all either posed or slept thru the picture taking but still very cute.

Good morning Hutchinson! It appears that people have already or just starting their preparation for 2022 Christmas celebration with the amount of traffic on Main Street.

We started to get Christmas decorations up a couple of weeks ago but it's still a work in progress. Everyone wants a tree so back to the drawing board. Since it gets dark early when people get off work it's a pretty drive hone with all the outside Christmas lights already turned on.

Enjoy your family time and if you are out running around consider stopping by Skaets for a quick meatloaf or hot bowl of chili. Of course the full menu is available and tonight is steak night.

The Beef Expo is going on next door at the Kansas Stait Fairgrounds. If you check that out take a peak at the progress of the new fire station. That is going to change this corner. Then how about the news of the new motel center that be located north of where Olive Garden is located I believe. This has been a long needed improvement for a long time. I read the target dates are in 2024.

Skaets add added a new fun project with customers since we get frequent folks in from all over the US and other countries. Mounted on the wall in the North hallway next to the Hutchinson Event Schedules are stick pin maps for USA and the World. It's been exciting as people are placing pins where they are from but others enjoy looking at the maps talking about their travels and bucket list for future.

Absolutely yes the meat loaf is baking at this moment. It's so chili out side that just sounds good. Speaking of chili Sue just made a big pot of Skaets chili for the weekend as well.

We started putting up Christmas decorations last night but something seems to be missing so we will figure that out to finish that over the weekend.

The Toys for Tots parade was once again so awesome.. The two big flat bed trucks fill of bicycles for the children is very moving. It's so special to watch and wave at all the motorcycles that pass by with more toys.

The construction of the new fire station that is across the street is moving right along. Watching that has been educational. Soon they will be tearing out the street that is directly south of Skaets. It's the entrance into gate 3 to State Fairgrounds. That is going to be interesting. Bryan Schultz is keeping us posted so we will keep you posted as that gets closer.

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Today Skaets is starting up the Saturday meatloaf. The first batch is in the oven and will be ready for lunch.
It seems like after the Kansas State Fair ends things start popping and days start going faster. Besides the time change and being dark so early there is Halloween, Thanksgiving,
Christmas. In-between all of that there are lots of non fair events and several community events.
Don't know how the Winter will be but I know after Christmas the days start staying lighter later.
It's really nice to be returning to our Saturday posts and hearing from those that live elsewhere. For the local and surrounding area folks we sure appreciate your shopping local and helping us solve the world problems.
