*From Maggie Meyers regarding the recent discovery of the criminal record of Justin Martin*
Dear valued customers, staff and community:
I opened Maggie Meyers in 2013 and in 2017 I became the sole owner of the business.
In 2022, Maggies brought on Matthew Freeman into management with the intention of him becoming a minority owner over time. With Matthew came his boyfriend Justin Martin (aka Sapphire Starlington).
It has only recently come to my attention the information linked to this individual with a prior conviction for SA, and this information and connection has been deeply disturbing.
At Maggie Meyers, we have an absolute zero tolerance for anyone who harms children. We unequivocally condemn all forms of child exploitation, abuse, or predation. We do not support, condone or associate with such individuals in any way.
Upon learning this information we immediately began the process of restructuring our management to fully sever any and all connections with both Justin Martin and his partner Matthew. As such, both of the above parties have been removed completely from any association with the business and its operations.
In this regard, we will be closed for business until Thursday July, 23 while we make adjustments to move forward with providing a safe space for our customers, our performers, our staff and our community.
We are committed to maintaining the highest level ethical standards in all of our business operations.
We apologize for any concern this may have caused and appreciate the trust you have placed in our business.
