It’s more than a slice of strawberry pie. 🍓🥧🥰
It’s history. Tradition. Memories. Comfort. Teamwork. And most importantly… community.
Strawberry Pie Week started decades ago with a sweet waitress, a small strawberry patch, and a few homemade pies. Over the years, it grew into something much bigger.. a little piece of Huntington magic. Thousands of slices shared inside the familiar walls of Jim’s, served by hardworking hands to generations of families and friends.
When Strawberry Pie Week came to a halt in 2019, we know our community felt that loss because we felt it too.
That’s why bringing it back last year meant so much to us. It wasn’t just about pie. It was about bringing back a slice of home.
What many people don’t see is the months of preparation behind the scenes. Homemade crusts prepared long before May arrives. Special strawberries sourced from Florida and hoping each season brings good berries which has definitely been a challenge this year with the weather.
Even with rising costs, we’ve worked hard to keep our prices the same for our loyal Jim’s family.
This year, we brought in extra help, a team of 35 incredible people working open to close, starting hours before we open each morning slicing fresh strawberries and preparing for the crowds. We’ve also worked to improve our systems to help minimize waits, including offering slices at our to-go counter.
And we could not be more proud of this amazing team.
Most of all, we are thankful for YOU.. our community, our friends, and everyone who continues to make Strawberry Pie Week so special year after year.
Vicki’s most asked question this week has been:
“How many slices have you sold?”
So we wanted to share our excitement and gratitude with a little slice update:
🍓 Tuesday — 1,735 slices
🍓 Wednesday — 2,075 slices
🍓 Thursday — 2,092 slices
🍓 Friday — 2,091 Slices
Another highlight this year has been our Strawberry Pie Week merch! All proceeds benefit the Cabell Huntington Wayne Animal Shelter and hot off the press, we just picked up a restock of shirts! So far, we’ve raised $3,365!
Two more days left, Huntington.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for continuing to make this tradition feel like home. We can’t wait to see you. 🥰
