(For those of you who have never met Bayou Betty, she is a Santa Maria style grill I drove to Vivian Louisiana to pick up with 3 friends who also bought their own Santa Maria grill (of course, they were not allowed to name theirs Bayou Betty). We were so "in the bayou" that the grill maker's back property line was the Texas state line! 😎)

Ready to judge! 🔥

Headed to the All-American BBQ Throwdown in Westland, Michigan today! Looking forward to spending the day with some incredibly talented pitmasters, tasting some outstanding barbecue, and seeing who brings their A-game.

As a KCBS Certified BBQ Judge, it’s always an honor to be trusted with a judging table. Great barbecue deserves great attention to detail—and I can’t wait to see what these teams have been working on.

Good luck to all the competitors. Fire up those smokers… let’s see who earns the hardware today! 🏆🔥🥩

Apparently, Jack's Blend is now fully heat-tested... 😳🌡️

One of my customers picked up a couple of bottles of Jack's Blend, used some, then left the rest in his car. Later he and his wife went out for dinner.

The problem? It was one of those hot Michigan days.

When they came back out... the jars had literally melted into modern art. 🤣

His wife (who just happens to be the Market Director where I sell) told me what happened. I said, "Tell him to stop by the market next time he's there...I'll replace them."

Well, today he did, and these two poor survivors made the trip back with him. I couldn't help but snap a picture before sending them into retirement.

The good news? My customer survived.

The bad news? The bottles did not.

Lesson learned: Jack's Blend can handle the heat... but the plastic jar eventually waves the white flag. 😂

If you've got Jack's Blend riding around in your vehicle this summer, do it a favor and bring it inside. Your brisket will thank you... and your spice bottles will too!

Now... who's going to tell me they've actually cooked with one of these melted masterpieces? 🔥🌶️
