I left Interstate State Park, and there's so much more to do there. I left with the intention of going back after lunch. Ugh. What am I doing? Even if I do that, some part of me is thinking I might have to come back tomorrow! Because if I come back tomorrow and do that last third of the trails, I'll have done the whole park in two days, except for all the little side paths. Although I did make a lot of wrong turns this morning.

In the meantime I am at Be Wild Burgers in St Croix Falls because, in this morning's posts, Allison and Pam told me to go here, so I am here, for a late lunch. It's around 2 PM. Yes, I have been in St Croix Falls since 7:15 AM. I walked around the building and took pictures, then I went in and waited at line and took pictures, and when I finally walked up to the window, Kathy said, "oh, hi!", like she knew me. Well, it took me 30 seconds to find out that she does know me, because she follows me. What the heck, I'm 45 minutes from home.

We talked for a bit but she didn't have a lot of time. This place was packed when I drove up, packed when I came in, packed while I was waiting for my food, packed, while I was sitting out in the shad eating, and it was still packed when I left. Holy cow there was no time to talk. That's too bad because she was so nice and kind to me. She even upgraded my burger to a meal, with a side and a drink, on the house. Thank you, Kathy, that was so kind of you.

I guess I should tell you what I got to eat. I got the Inferno Burger- with pepperjack cheese, chopped bacon, pickled jalapenos, and chili crunch mayo. Before I knew Kathy was going to by my meal upgrade, I already decided to get the meal upgrade, because they have Tater Tots and Orange Fanta. 😋

This place is so cool, and the food is so good and the cooks (one of them is Jeffrey, the co-owner along with Kathy) are amazing and Kathy is so so nice. Jeffrey and Jake were so busy that I didn't get a chance to talk to them when I ordered. Their food was awesome. What's nice is that I was able to go in close to closing time and I got to talk to the three of them for a bit. Nice people.

This is one of the best burgers I've ever had and these are hands down the best tater tots I've ever had. The sauces Kathy through in were amazing. A dill pickle ranch, and their secret sauce. It reminds me of a sauce I made when I was at Trump's Cafe in Stillwater. 27-28 years ago.

Thank you, Kathy, Jeffrey, and Jake.

Your restaurant is just amazing. This is immediately, in one visit, one of my favorite restaurants. I will come here every time I'm in St Croix Falls.

Here is my third long video of the day. The second long video from inside Interstate State Park in St Croix Falls. I made a third one, but I'm not posting that until tomorrow, along with another post with a whole bunch more photos, when I still have to post another post later on about where I went to lunch today.

There was more to see and do and talk about and take pictures of, at this park, than any other place I've been to in the last two months. This isn't necessarily bigger then the other parks and the trails aren't necessarily longer, but there is so much scenery and so much steep up and steep down and rocks and branches and steps and the river and potholes and trails and roads and the lake. Oh my gosh did this hurt. This is the hardest hiking i've done to date. It is the steepest and the roughest terrain and the most different terrains all mixed in. There were a few flat spots, but this was an exercise in hurt. Obviously i'm gonna say I hated it and I liked it. I liked it enough to come back after lunch. And do four more miles. Six miles this morning, and four miles this afternoon into evening. I have been here since 7:15 AM. and I am about to leave at 6:30 PM.

When I got here, I sat for a bit, then went to have breakfast. Then came back and hikes the six miles with just a few breaks, and then I went to lunch for a couple hours. I came back and I sat for a bit, and then I hiked for four more miles, with only two short breaks. This is the longest I've walked and the most I've walked, with the fewest amount of breaks or stopping at all. I don't know how or why, but it happened, and it hurt, but it was fun enough that I didn't go home right after lunch, which was the original plan in my head.

I think I better call Louise and tell her that I'm gonna be to her house a little late.

I think I might be sitting downtown at the river for most of the morning and then hanging out at Louise's house during the afternoon and evening rain tomorrow. But then I am actually contempting coming back here on sunday, and walking one or two of the really long trails. A lot longer than any of these today. I'm assuming they might be flatter, cause these short paths weren't.

I'm so sorry for all of these pictures, but this place is beautiful. And it kind of stinks because I actually posted this two hours ago, but it didn't post until just now cause there was no internet in the middle of the woods.

This is just a photo dump from inside Interstate State Park in St Croix Falls this morning. I'm gonna have to do a 3 posts on instagram and two on tiktok and one big one on facebook, because I took so many pictures.

I can't help it with all the videos and pictures. Because this is such a cool park with so much to look at.And so many cool short trails. If I just post about one trail and make a little video, it'll take me 14 days.

I took all these pictures after breakfast and after the first video I showed you this morning. I still have another video to show you, and I lunch post. I'm sorry, but I can't put it off. Until tomorrow, because I have another photo dump and another video. I'm probably gonna have to wait on those till tomorrow, but i'm actually thinking about coming back here tomorrow because there's so much more to see. I'll have to think about that.

Anyway, Facebook is getting one post with a heck of a lot of pictures because they allow a heck of a lot of pictures. TikTok is getting 2 posts because they allow 35 pictures. Instagram is getting 3 posts because they only allow 20 pictures.

I'm so sorry for all that you have to see.A and hear and read today. If you take the time, you're gonna like most of it. After I hit post, I'm gonna go into Be Wild Burgers.

This place is awesome! Friends of WI Interstate State Park and Straight Lake State Park

Again, I'm not gonna type much to do with what I'm doing on the walk. I'm just resting at a table with my internet on, and then I'm gonna go back into airplane mode, so I don't get notifications and I don't lose battery power.

I'm gonna take way too much video and way too many pictures today, and i'm not sure how to deal with that. You guys are gonna be annoyed. I'll try to keep it as positive as I can, and try not to throw in the negative like I did in the earlier part of this video. I'll try, but what comes out of my mouth comes out of my mouth.

Instagram only lets me post 20 pictures at a time, and I've already taken about 40, and it's only 10:30 AM. So I'm gonna have to do 2 or 3 posts of just pictures on Instagram. Doesn't matter much cause, not as many people pay attention to me on Instagram and TikTok.

So I guess my question for the very few of you that will even listen to this post, or respond to it, on Facebook. Do I make three different posts of twenty pictures on Facebook, which gets the most attention out of all my social medias, or are you okay if I make one big picture post with all the pictures. Because I think there's an unlimited amount of pictures on Facebook.

I've rested enough. I'm gonna go back to walking. Friends of WI Interstate State Park and Straight Lake State Park

Well, I'm not walking right now, and I've been around Interstate State Park in St Croix Falls for an hour and a half. It's about a 45 minute drive from our house in downtown Hudson.

It's not my fault that I'm not walking. It is Allison and Nicole's fault. I was already in the park and I had walked a tiny bit, even though it was a wrong turn on a wrong trail. It figures that the very first thing I would do in this park was to make a mistake I got back in my car to go to the correct spot, and I just happened to look at my morning video comments. Allison and Nicole told me I should go to the Dalles Café and Coffee House . Ugh, peer pressure.

Well, as you can see, that's what I did. I left the park to go get a fancy coffee and a fancy treat and brought it back to the park to drink it and eat it. It's okay cause it was only five minutes from where I was. Left turn, left turn, right turn, right turn, and I was in the parking lot. I would have gotten back here sooner but I obviously talked to Amber for quite a bit, before she made my coffee and got my treat, then I talked to her a little more.

Anyways, Dalles C&CH. Amber made herself a Turtle Mocha this morning and said how much she liked it, and that it is one of her favorites, so that's what I got. She also told me that the Snickerdoodle Cinnamon Roll was a brand new baked good, that she hadn't even tasted yet, so I got it so I could taste it. No, I didn't offer her a bite, that would have been weird. It would have been nice, but it would have been weird.

Both were and are amazing. I'm still devouring them at the picnic table while I'm typing this. The place looks so cool.I wanted to spend as much time at the park, so I didn't sit down and order breakfast off their menu because I wanted to spend most of the day as possible at the park. Plus I really haven't eaten that much lately. For whatever reason, I haven't eaten much breakfast or lunch in quite a while. I just end up eating something later in the evening.

Thank you, Amber, and thanks for talking and listening to me while I tried to make the decisions. Also, very cool fancy fingernails.

I'm not gonna type, because I'm driving, and it's a longer than normal drive for a walk. I'm going to Interstate Park in St Croix Falls, right now. I'll talk to you again later.

Photo dump of my visit to Willow River State Park today. I know I put out three videos today, but the first video had nothing to do with today, and I can't take pictures while i'm talking to the video phone camera. So many things to look at while walking. It was rough walking for a little bit today. But overall it was good. I like this place.

One thing that scares me so far about Willow River and Kinnickinnic, and this is my problem not theirs, is that although the main paths are marked very well, even more so at Willow River, there's all these offshoot paths that I get lost on. So it makes someone like me scared to take those paths, even though they look interesting, not knowing where it'll lead. It shouldn't bother me because I have no time constraints and nothing to hurry back to. Maybe as I get more experienced and more comfortable, I can just take those paths and not worry where they go. It will give me new adventures. Willow River State Park

Like I said the other day that Belwin Conservancy, I sometimes hate the walks I go on because they're hard on my body, but then I like them at the same time, is there good for my mind. I'm glad I go on them even if some of them hurt. So, even if I complain about steep hills and rocks and wrong turns an exhaustion, I still like the whole experience of walking or hiking.

Looking at videos I've taken and pictures I've taken on a bunch of the visits here, somehow, I think it would be cool if I came down here on a visit and just took pictures and videos of different angles of the waterfalls and all the areas around them and the bridge. I sit on the benches and stare at the waterfalls, but there's so many places to look in and on and under and around them.

Thank you for everyone that doesn't get annoyed with the amount of posts I make and the amount and length of the videos put on here. I appreciate you dealing with my need, and want, to say a lot.

2nd post from Willow River this morning.

It is so nice at Willow River and it by the waterfalls and walking the trails, but I do wish people treated it nicer. I wanted to talk nice, then I got grumpy when I saw litter.

After hanging out at the falls for an hour and a half, I got up and collected all the litter around the benches and put it in my backpack to take back home. So much litter, and there's so much more litter down by the water and in the rocks and on the trails. I just don't understand it. Maybe I should come out here with a garbage bag and my new litter picker upper stick that Consuelo gave to me.

I forgot that I had to walk back up the steep paved road. I stopped at a bench where the paved road crossed the yellow path that I needed to go on (took the orange path in the middle) to take back to the car.

I need to mention is that I took another wrong turn, down a the green (dirt) path, that I thought would be cool because it was along the road. That was not the case. The green path stays down and goes along the river and meets up with the blue path that goes back to the beach. Which would have been a long way from where I parked the car. Ugh. I turned around and went back to the paved road, and I had to walk up the steep part and then rested at a bench for a while.

This was long. I was on or around the trails for about 4 hours. It was over 2 hours of walking, with an hour and a half of hanging out by the falls. I'm actually still here, at the beach, and i've been here for over 6 hours total. Leaving soon.

Sign note for all you amateur/slow walkers like me. If you take the orange path, even if you want to take the yellow path, the orange path is a little flatter with less steep ups or downs and no gravel. If you like the exertion, take the entire yellow path, if you want it to be a little bit easier, veer off on the orange path that eventually wraps back around to the yellow path. The orange path is the easier alternative to the rough terrain of the middle of the yellow path, but both are similar distances.

Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks, Inc.

Sorry about my tirade about the litter. It just stinks that that is a mindset in people. Especially in such a nice place with signs all over that ask you to please not dirty it up.

1st post from Willow River this morning.

Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks, Inc.

I was in the parking lot near the Yellow Trail. It's the parking lot in between campground 200 and 300 and across the road from the group camp area. I went left to walk down the yellow path towards the 300 campground first, but it wasn't much. It was just a short path to that campground.

Then I walked across the road to the Group Camp area, just to look around and use the restroom. I realized that there was another way back from the yellow path that I'll talk about later. I went back to the car and then continued on the yellow path past campgrounds 200 and 100 and then to the walking road that goes left to the falls or right to the falls parking lot. That's a little bit of a fib. I took a left turn that led down a clissy, steep mountain train that matt further down towards the end of the paved part of the steep road. That took a while.

I wasn't planning ongoing to the waterfalls, but this little shortcut.l I took that I wasn't planning on taking led me halfway down to them. So why not. I was just gonna go to the end of the yellow path and turn around and go back but I stopped down at the falls for over an hour.

On the way back, and down the Yellow Path, I decided to veer off and take the Orange Path. When I was looking at the kiosk in the Group Camp area near the restroom. I noticed the map said that the orange path on that side of the road loops all the way around from one section of the yellow path to the other section of the yellow path. I figured that would make the walk a little more interesting than to just walk back and forth on the same path the entire way.

So I kind of did three things this morning. I walked the yellow path, I walked down by the waterfalls and hung out, and then I walked the orange bath. And it's still morning, so i'm probably gonna go to the beach and hang out under a tree.

Because I mess up and can't keep track of time, I have over thirty minutes of video, besides what I posted this morning. Now I'm posting 2 more videos today, besides the first one, and I have a boltload of pictures, so I'm going to have to do another post of all the pictures of the park.

Sorry that there's so much you have to read and listen to from me.

08/13/2026

Seven random short videos from yesterday on the way back from my walk and talk through the horror movie woods. I didn't want to post all of these yesterday, because I had already posted 2 videos with over 30 minutes of word vomit (Carol's description of me). 🤣 I decided to add the first two clips to this, even though I posted them as stories yesterday. But stories disappear, and I thought the ducks were cool.

I'm guessing, i'm gonna talk to you later, too.

I have so many darn videos that I don't post because I think I post too much talking. I feel weird just having them and not sharing em, so I think I just wanna start posting them, and if someone's annoyed, they don't have to listen.

I don't know if I he spoke about it in the videos, but i may have talked about posting thus tomorrow but it now posting this today but it's yesterday for me and it's the next day for you.

Edit - I didn't know what I was gonna do this morning as I left the house or sat in the car. Someone brought up Interstate Park again but I was worried about the rain. Which is why Sunday fell apart and I didn't go anywhere, because I planned on going there but it was raining. So I'm at Willow River again. I figured I could walk around and if it starts raining too bad, I can just go to the beach and sit under the pavilion instead of going home or sitting in the car.

Another edit - I decided to park at that little parking lot, on the right in the middle of the park driveway, between campground 200 and 300. I figured I would walk the yellow path towards the the crossroad that either goes to Willow River Falls or the Willow River Falls parking lot. Then I can walk back to the car and then drive to the beach later. In the middle of that, if I'm feeling okay, I might go down the steep road to the falls, but i'm not sure yet.

Maybe I'll see some of you today.
