The rain was trickling down on and off this late morning and early afternoon, so we had to think of something to do after breakfast that wasn't outside. Cocopop liked the indoor park in Eau Claire rhe other day, so I decided why not go to Hudson GNG for my first time. I think she's been here two other times and she was littler. What's with Geeya and once with her father.

It was perfect timing since we got such a late start getting to breakfast this morning. We didn't start eating till after 10am. and then afterwards, we went to get gas and popped into Goodwill, because why not.

We arrived at right around noon. We stayed until 3:30pm, so I'd call that a pretty good day. This time around, we just did the jungle gym park stuff. Maybe next time we'll throw in the glow in the dark mini golf or 3D mini golf or neon bright mini golf. I forget what it's called. You can do one or the other, or both. I think you get a discount if you sign up to do both in a day. Pretty darn good deal to spend $9 for three and a half hours of fun. There was sales tax and a couple treats, but it was still a cheap date.

Grumpa is all for the free and inexpensive stuff, for the two of us, that is just as much fun as emptying one's wallet for the big fancy kind of places. Between both indoor playgrounds over the 2 days, without counting extras, it costs $20 for 8 hours of fun.

I thought I was tired and my body and all the joints were sore on Wednesday, but today it's much, much worse. I guess that's what I get for not having a few days to recover from my extreme workout before doing another extreme workout. Little Lady Lydia?, she's not tired or sore at all. Except for the slide burn on her butt.

Little Lady Lydia wanted to go to the North Pole Restaurant yesterday. I think she likes the name. I talked her out of it yesterday, since we had to go in the opposite direction after breakfast to go to Cara's house to play with the goats and then take Cara to work. I promised her that we would go today.

This is Cocopop's, third time eating at the North Pole Restaurant with Grumpa. The first time we ate here was when she visited in December and she liked it. She didn't say anything about it. She just liked it like she likes all of our breakfasts. The last time she visited in march the very first thing when she got in the house was "I want to go to the North Pole Restaurant for breakfast tomorrow". I asked her what made her think of that and her mother said she was talking about it in the car the whole ride.

So obviously we know this restaurant is one of her favorites, since we've been here three visits in a row. I'm guessing there will be a fourth. We've also been to Key's and Not Justa almost every time she's visited, so she has a top three. I only dictated where we went, or go, if it's a new restaurant to her (which they all were in the beginning when we first started going out together), but now she's the Breakfast Boss, so she decides.

Instead of waiting for a table, we sat at the counter. Brenda came and said hi and took our drink order, and then came back to take our food order. Cocopop got a hot chocolate and a small Chocolate Chip Pancake with sausage. Grumpa got a black coffee, my usual Country Fried Steak (raisin toast this time), and, as always, an Oat Pancake. Actually, I didn't get this pancake the very first time I visited and so many of you came after me saying I should have gotten the Oat pancake. 🤣

I love this place and Cocopop really really loves this place (the food and the name).

Thank you, Brenda

This is a picture taken of a picture on a table at Carol's mom, Louise's house. This picture is of all four generations of girls from about two years ago. Look at the smiles, they all look so happy. The four of us have been together a few times in the last year but obviously we all know that's not the same.

I wish Carol was here to see how her Lydi (that's what she called her) was growing up. It hurts every time I think about her not being able to see her granddaughter. I love her and I miss her so much and this hurts so bad.

Little Lady Lydia got to spend the morning at Cara's house hanging out with the goats and the ducks and the chickens, and Cara.

The reason this happened is because Cara needed a ride to work today, because her parents weren't home. She asked me last night if I could do that. I said yes. As many of you know her mother, Erin from Bo Jon's Flowers and Gifts , has a lot of health issues. Erin and Jeff had to spend the day at Mayo clinic so Cara was home alone. I told her in the past that if she ever needed any help or a ride, because her parents weren't around, she could call me and I would come running.

Since I was going over there anyways,I asked her if I could come early with Cocopop, so she could hang out with all the animals. She said yes to me, because she's been trying to get me to bring Lydia over there, to see all the animals, for quite a while now.

Anyways, Cocopop loved the little farm and all the animals. She just got to look at the ducks, including five brand new baby ducklings, and she got the pet one gentle, blind, chicken. Most of her time was spent with all the goats. She got to give them some feed and she got to pet them and follow them and Cara all around the yard until ill she met every single goat. After that, she learned that they really loved leaves from the tree. She became all the goat's best friends because she spent about an hour ripping lees off of all the trees and feeding them to them. She actually gave them so many leaves that eventually they stopped because they were full.

Thank you, Cara. The farm boss had a blast.

Grumpa and Cocopop got to go to breakfast this morning since we missed it yesterday because of that early morning appointment. She either chooses where to go on her own, or I give her some options and she chooses from those. Either way, she's the breakfast boss so we go where she wants. Today we went to Keys Cafe Bar & Bakery - Hudson , and she already knows where she wants to go tomorrow and Saturday.

We walked into , and there were maybe 4 or 5 tables of people. About 10 minutes later there were 24 or 25 tables of people. They were way busy and Taylor was way way busy, but she did awesome.

Taylor got Little Lady Lydia a hot chocolate and me a coffee and then we ordered our food. She got French Toast and sausage and I got my favorite, the Cajun Skillet. Afterwards, we shared a piece of french silk pie.

I'm not typing anymore because we are concentrating on her distracting me with fun.

Thank you Taylor, and thank you for the French Silk Pie. That was very kind of you and Keys.

Now we're off to see family friend Cara (Erin from Bo Jon's daughter), who's going to let us play around her yard with all her animals. The other reason we're going there is because Cara asked me if I could give her a ride to work since her parents are at Mayo clinic today. I'll tell you about that visit later.

Brianna and I had an early morning appointment, in Eau claire at the social security office, to get my social security name in order. For some dumb reason I've had three different names associated my social security number since I was whatever age. James Chadwick Trainor, Chad Trainor, and J. Chad Trainor. That's what happens when i'm left in charge of things. There was a lot of confusion, so I had to be there in person and go through all the twenty questions to make sure that everyone knew I was the same person attached to the number my whole life. Brianna wanted it in order so I wouldn't have problems dealing with it later.

Since it only took fifteen minutes, but took us an hour and fifteen minutes to drive, we decided to stay in Eau Claire and go to 4 Treasures Adventure Park. Holy cow was it big with so much stuff to do and so fun. Little Lady Lydia loved it. That thing happened where Cocopop made Grumpa run around with her all day through all of the tunnels and ladders and slides and obstacles. My mind hurts and my body hurts, but I can't seem to say no to her. It is super fun being around her and she is the park boss. As I am typing this post, mind is okay because it was fun, but my whole entire body hurts. Pain or not, I actually think this place is worth the hour and fifteen minute drive.

Partway through the morning, she had a snack and a big red slushy, and then later on, we ordered a big gigantic pepperoni pizza. She picks the pepperoni off and gives it to me so she can just have the cheese.

Her mama got the go out and run a few errands around town. When she came back, she took over running through the park while I rested a little bit. I ended up spending about an hour in a corner talking to my lawyer trying to get a few things squared away that I have to take care of. So it was my excuse to stop running and crawling and sliding for a bit.

Overall a fun day. Now we're just watching a movie at great grandma's house.

I went out to lunch with TherapistJill of Black Sheep Therapy the other day. I don't have a picture of her or with her because I wasn't positive if it would be inappropriate or rude to ask a therapist if she wanted to be in a picture. She messaged me last week and asked if I wanted to get together for lunch. Obviously, I said yes. I also got to see her brand new office space, up on the hill, in Hudson. It's in that 1810 crestview building. The same building that my dentist office is in.

ran both grief groups that I went to since Carol died, and in her office, she's hoping to eventually start running a year round weekly grief groups than. That would be so so nice. I love how she runs her grief groups. It won't be nice to be able to go all the time instead of once in a while. Hopefully it works out because it's one of the few places that I've been comfortable because fellow grievors are the very few that I feel comfortable talking to. No unsolicited advice, no judgment, no opinions on how a griever should grieve.

We went to Crisp and Green. My first time being there. Carol's been to a couple times since she could eat a bunch of their food. After looking at the menu, there was a couple things I could eat as long as I took the lettuce and tomato off. That's why the picture of the sandwich looks so naked. It was good. Vinegar and oil and mayonnaise actually works well.

Thank you, Jill, for the invite. I hope we can do it again. I can't wait okay, to see you and others at your office.

Wow, Cocopop came into town and she and Grumpa went up on the hill to a few stores and got her a boatload of birthday presents. All outdoor stuff, and all stuff to keep it Geeya's house. This way she can have outdoor fun when she is here, and her mama doesn't have to bring everything back and forth when they're visit. A bicycle with training wheels and a helmet and elbow and knee pads, and even a air pump. She got a slip and slide that apparently has water balloons, and the big, long wavy sprinkler thing that the Chai likes more than she does. I'm sure we'll find more stuff throughout her visit.

At least we have a bunch of inexpensive fun to have for her. And it keeps us from doing too many things that wear and tear on Grumpa's body. But i'm sure we will still spend a bunch of time at a bunch of the parks.

06/16/2026

I don't like walking, but apparently i've liked walking this last 3 days, and now i'm upset today that I can't walk today. I have no idea where the darn umbrella went, otherwise I would walk. I guess being under the tree was nice because 57 degrees, rainy with a breeze feels pretty darn good.

I don't like having fun, but I like having fun with Cocopop. That's the only time that I all say, "hey, let's go do something. Let's go have fun. Let's go to a park. Let's go eat. Let's keep busy". She makes me want to do things im the moment, even though my body and my mind don't wanna do things. It's always the happy sad of the same time, though. I am happy that I'm with her but sad that Carol's not. I'm happy that we're having fun together but sad that Carol's not. I'm happy watching Little Lady Lydia grow and do all the new things but sad the Carol is not here to see it.

Just a reminder for all of you about me, and everyone that's grieving a loss of their spouse. We are allowed to be sad. We are allowed to not want to be happy about our significant other not being here. We are aloud to sit in our grief and sadness or take as long as it takes to get through whatever's going on with us. We don't have to be happy or act happy or force or fake happy just to make everyone else around us comfortable. Please stop trying to nicely, caringly, push us to how you want us to be. You are not in charge of our grief. We just want you to be here with us and listen to us and hug us and ask us about them.

I like being around people and talking to people.I just haven't been doing that as much the last few months. I love being around cocoa, pop, and I am happy in the moment whenever she's in the room. It's too bad that I can't see her more. So I am guessing that I'm gonna be happy a lot this particular week. That doesn't mean i'm gonna be better or have moved on or be fixed. It just means that I gonna be happy in the moment and glad i'm there and maybe even want more of that happy. But i'm still gonna be sad because I want to be sad because it is sad that Carol is not here.

I am so, so sorry that I made this stupid video so long and then added a bunch of words to read.

The boys and I went over to Carol's mom, Louise's house, yesterday afternoon. Mike mows her yard too. At some point Carol's sister, Diane, came over. We all know for a little while. And the boys loved around 7pm. A little while later Louise said, "what are we doing for dinner?"

I called EJ's Pizzeria and ordered a Hawaiian Pizza, because that's Louise's favorite and a Chicken Alfredo Pizza, because that's one of my many favorites from . Diane said she would eat any pizza that's in front of her.

We talked for a long, long time. More than any other time since Carol died, and I vented for most of it. Even things that were uncomfortable for me to talk about. And other things that were uncomfortable for them to hear. They should have interrupted. Me are told me to stop, because Diane, and I ended up leaving at 1145pm. Way past my bedtime. I'm going back to louisa's house this afternoon so we can eat leftover pizza.

I love the picture of the three of them.
