Everything Will Bee Ok Raw Honey For those that want to follow along, I will be posting what is going on with my honeybees and what it takes on my part to help them.

A honey bee swarm is a natural way for a healthy colony to grow and expand. The swarm has now been safely moved into a wooden hive box and is doing well in its new home. There are ways beekeepers try to avoid this and it’s not always successful.

14 of 15 hives made it through winter. This is a tricky time as the queens are laying eggs and nectar sources are not plentiful. Lots of pollen coming in. A beekeeper now manages the hive growth. Too fast and they swarm…too slow and when new mated queens get delivered (end of April), the hives are not big enough to split (make into 2 hives). Making sure the queen has room to continue to lay eggs is a focus…along with supplemental feeding.
