Lower Township to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary
with Annual Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks on July 3
Lower Township will celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary during its annual Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 3, 2026, with an evening of live entertainment, family activities, food, expanded amusement rides, and one of the area’s largest fireworks displays along the Delaware Bay waterfront.
The celebration will take place along Beach Drive in North Cape May between Lincoln Boulevard and Emerson Avenue, with festivities beginning at 5:00 p.m. The event is part of the township’s ongoing tradition of bringing the community together to celebrate Independence Day and will feature special programming in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Festival-goers can enjoy live music throughout the evening, browse local vendors, and sample a variety of food options while taking in the beautiful bayfront setting. Families can also enjoy free expanded children’s amusement rides located along Washington Boulevard and Franklin Avenue.
Live entertainment will be featured throughout Beach Drive, including performances at multiple street ends:
• Washington Boulevard (The Zone)
• Whittier Avenue (JEXXA Duo)
• Homes Avenue (Karate Garage)
• Franklin Avenue (The Family Rug)
As the evening comes to a close, visitors are encouraged to bring their beach blankets and chairs and make their way toward the bayfront for a spectacular fireworks display over the Delaware Bay. The fireworks are scheduled to begin shortly after 9:00 p.m. and will be launched from a barge positioned near Emerson Avenue, allowing for expanded viewing opportunities throughout the township.
“Lower Township’s Independence Day Celebration is one of our most anticipated community events each year, and 2026 makes it even more special as we come together to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary,” said Mayor Frank Sippel. “We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to the bayfront for an evening filled with family fun, entertainment, and a memorable fireworks display.”
The event is funded in part through the Cape May County Board of Commissioners’ “CMC Land of the Free, Celebration 250” Grant Program, which supports local communities in creating meaningful and family-friendly celebrations commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
