The Rex’s Coney Island Food Trailer has been set up at Tractor Supply in West Branch since 11:00 this morning! 🌭💚

We’ll be there until at least 3:00 PM — possibly 4:00 PM if you keep us busy! So come grab your Detroit-style coneys, brats and favorites while you can!

Sorry for the late post today. I’ve been busy at the restaurant, and with our small crew we’re doing everything we can to keep both the restaurant and trailer running without stretching our people too thin. Sometimes that puts me a little behind on posting, but we’re making it work! ❤️

We will NOT be at Tractor Supply Sunday, but we have every intention of being back MONDAY! 🦖

Our very first French Country Night is officially SOLD OUT! ❤️

After all the hours of prep, recipe testing, taste testing, tweaking and cooking that went into this dinner, seeing you show up and support us meant more than you know.

You made your decision loud and clear…

🇫🇷 FRENCH COUNTRY NIGHT HAS OFFICIALLY EARNED A SPOT IN THE ROTATION! 🇫🇷

Thank you to every single person who came in, tried something new, shared our posts, told a friend and supported our little restaurant. This is exactly why we keep trying new things.

But don't get too comfortable… because we're changing countries again! 😂

🇫🇷🦖 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2ND — REX’S FIRST FRENCH COUNTRY NIGHT! 🇫🇷🦖

Herd… THIS is one we need you to show up for. ❤️

We have spent days in this kitchen preparing for our very first French Country Night. Long hours. Recipe testing. Taste testing. Tweaking sauces. Pounding, stuffing and rolling chicken. Slow-braising beef. Making potatoes, soup and dessert from scratch.

And we tasted EVERY piece of this dinner before putting our name on it. Miss Tina even came in today and absolutely devoured the Crème Brûlée. 😂❤️

Tomorrow we're finally ready to serve it to YOU!

🇫🇷 Chicken Cordon Bleu — $23.99
Our HUGE house-made Cordon Bleu stuffed with Dearborn Ham and creamy Swiss American cheese, breaded and finished with our incredible creamy Dijon sauce. Served with French Country Potato Gratin and French green beans.

🇫🇷 Boeuf Bourguignon — $23.99
Tender, slow-braised beef served over creamy mashed potatoes with French green beans.

Both dinners include your choice of Soup du Jour or House Salad + bread.

🍮 And tomorrow's featured dessert: House-Made Crème Brûlée — $5.99

🇫🇷🦖 FRENCH NIGHT TASTE TEST = SUCCESS! 🦖🇫🇷

Okay, Herd… THIS is the real deal. Real food. Real kitchen. Real Rex’s. ❤️

We did a kitchen taste test on our Chicken Cordon Bleu today, and what you’re looking at is only HALF of one! These babies are large and in charge. 😂

Tender chicken stuffed with Dearborn Ham and creamy Swiss American cheese, then breaded and finished with our house-made creamy Dijon sauce.

And I have to tell you something—I’m personally not a big Dijon mustard fan because I think it can overpower everything. But THIS SAUCE?! 🤤 Simply amazing. Creamy, savory, just enough Dijon, and it complements the chicken instead of taking it over.

The rest of our Cordon Bleus are prepped and waiting. Tomorrow morning they'll be breaded and cooked fresh for French Night! 🇫🇷

This entrée will be served with our French Country Potato Gratin and French green beans, plus your choice of Soup du Jour or House Salad & bread.

After all the testing and tweaking we've been doing for this first French Night, I am SO excited for you guys to finally taste it. ❤️🦖🇫🇷

🇫🇷 FRENCH FRIDAY IS COMING TO REX’S! 🇫🇷🦖

We’re still working out a few of the final details, but we’ve been cooking, tasting, tweaking, and having WAY too much fun getting ready for our very first French Dinner! ❤️

Here’s what we know so far…

🥩 Boeuf Bourguignon — a rich, slow-cooked French beef stew served over creamy mashed potatoes. We’ve been taste-testing this one and OH MY GOODNESS… it is AMAZING.

🐔 Chicken Cordon Bleu — tender chicken filled with ham and cheese, served with vegetables.

🍄 Cream of Cremini Mushroom Soup — made with fresh cremini mushrooms. Forget the thick, heavy canned-style cream of mushroom soup you may be picturing! Ours is light, delicate and brothy with a beautiful creamy finish that lets that earthy mushroom flavor shine. It is PHENOMENAL.

🍮 Homemade Crème Brûlée — we’re putting the final touches on this classic French dessert with its creamy vanilla custard and that gorgeous crackly caramelized sugar crust.

We still have a few finishing touches to make before we release the complete menu and pricing, but we couldn’t keep it a secret any longer! 🇫🇷

After being closed for two days… haven’t you missed us a little? 😂 Because we’ve missed YOU!

This will be our very first introductory French dinner, and we are beyond excited. We’ve spent the last two weeks taste-testing, tweaking, adjusting, and making sure everything is just right — and let me tell you, it is turning out spectacular.
