Two years ago Hurricane Helene changed Hot Springs forever. It’s hard to believe it has been two years.
Lately, we’ve been sharing a lot about Vinyl Pies in Vincennes, and for good reason. We just opened, and we are excited about growing this sweet little concept and especially the opportunity to grow it with our children.
Vinyl Pies is pretty simple, really fresh salads, unbelievable pizza, a few desserts… that’s it. Keep it simple, do it right, and while you’re doing it, make sure every single person who walks through the door feels welcomed, cared for, and loved. Make them feel like the rockstars they are!
But today, our hearts are in Hot Springs.
Two years ago, when Helene came through our little mountain town, she left behind destruction that was almost impossible to comprehend. In the days, months, and now years since, there has been so much rebuilding, restoring, repairing, reconstructing and rallying. And today we remember ❤️
When we think back on Hurricane Helene, as strange as it may sound, the destruction isn’t what we remember most.
We remember the people.
We always said it was truly like having a front-row seat to seeing the very best of humanity❤️💛🖤🤍🤎
People showed up. They came with food, supplies, and helping hands. They checked in, sent messages, donated, prayed for us, long after the Hurricane went through. People loved on Hot Springs because Hot Springs has always been so good at loving on people!
Of course, today we wish we could be in Hot Springs with our incredible crew there. But rather than today being a day to feel sad, we feel incredibly grateful.
Grateful for the friends/family who helped, the helpers who became friends, and the MANY people who refused to let Hot Springs give up.
Grateful for the rebuilding that continues even today.
Lastly, incredibly grateful that, while part of our hearts remain in those North Carolina mountains, another community has welcomed us here in Vincennes, Indiana. Our entire family has felt so much warmth and kindness here! We thank you for this!

Hot Springs is still rebuilding. The visitors eating at the restaurant staying in the inn/rooms and shopping on the storefronts help tremendously with the continued rebuilding. We promise, you’ll fall in love with this sweet town, and it will love you right back!
Hot Springs is one of the kindest, warmest little towns you will ever find. You will be blown away by the beauty of the Appalachian mountains. You’ll feel welcomed, relaxed and loved!
Two years after Helene, that is what we choose to remember most.
Not what the storm took.
But what people gave.
And we will never, ever forget it. ❤️
