It's finally the weekend! Time to ditch Waikiki and get our North Shore on! We cruised up to Mike's Huli Chicken, because priorities! You know, that whole 'leaving Waikiki' thing... it's a real thing, folks! Chicken and shrimp, oh my! Still amazing, still worth the trip! Mike's Huli Chicken, you never disappoint!

Lulu’s Waikiki. Steak Benedict with fried rice and a Bloody Mary.

One of our favorite places to grab a drink, but honestly, skip the food.

The steak was ordered medium rare, and was served well done. Poached eggs were also cooked well done. Fried rice tasted good, but was cold.

I did inform the bartender about the issues with the food, and she promised to take care of it. I was still charged $28 for the worst eggs benne I’ve ever had.

Service is always friendly and prompt at the bar.

Strictly no illicit egg sales in Waikiki!!

Sheriff’s Office Cracks Down on Underground Egg Operations

We regret to inform the public that the black market egg trade is on the rise. With prices soaring, our deputies have uncovered a growing network of underground egg dealers, or as they call themselves, “yolkers.” These individuals are operating in the shadows, selling farm-fresh contraband out of the trunks of their vehicles, behind diners, and in the back alleys of farmers’ markets.

Just last night, our undercover unit successfully infiltrated an illicit egg deal. The suspect, known on the streets as “Sunny Side,” was caught attempting to sell a dozen large, unregistered eggs to an unsuspecting buyer in a dimly lit parking lot. When approached, the suspect tried to flee but slipped on an egg carton, making the arrest over-easy.

We also warn residents to be on the lookout for coded language used in these illegal transactions. Phrases like:

• “I got the good stuff—free-range, no hormones.”
• “Meet me behind the supermarket. I’ve got a dozen, straight from the coop.”
• “You want ‘em scrambled or laundered?”

Your sheriff’s office takes these offenses seriously. If you see someone selling eggs at suspiciously reasonable prices, report it immediately. We will continue to crack down on these operations before things get even more scrambled.

Stay vigilant, folks. And remember: if the deal sounds too good to be true, it’s probably eggstortion.

Fresh udon noodles at Marukame Udon 🍜, because who needs a social life when you have carbs? Nikutama beef with sweet beef, sauce, soft boiled egg and scallion - the works! The noodles are always fresh, chewy, and delicious, unlike my dating life. I found the sauce to be very lightly flavored and lacking saltiness, but hey, at least it's not as salty as my tears. Tempura shrimp and Tamagoyaki were both on point with a crispy tempura coating that'll make you forget all your worries, until you realize you ate the whole thing by yourself.
