Honolulu 3/8/26: posting a lil late again!
Mahalo nui to everyone who made awesome food, volunteered to serve, or any other part of this wonderful effort.
Let us remember that at its heart, the movement is a PROTEST, not a charity soup kitchen. We run on consensus and we share and distribute food, NOT “feeding the poor.” We all participate, we all eat, and anyone who cares enough is a participant in consensual decision making. The idea is to dissolve hierarchical structures and grow mutuality. And it is called “Food NOT BOMBS” for a reason. This food action is a protest against WAR & MILITARISM, which the bogus hewa machine calling itself a “government” constantly prioritizes over basic CARE for the PEOPLE.
Food Not Bombs O’ahu is additionally dedicated to restoration of Indigenous Kanaka Maoli sovereignty (real, not fake) based upon the ancient laws of Kānāwai Māmalahoe & Niĩ’aupi’o Kolowalu. We are reclaiming the original Indigenous concept of Mutual Aid and applying it to our Nation’s current exercise of governance by the people.
We set up every Sunday at 5:30 PM, and serve at 6. Everyone (except cops, who may eat at a distance for safety reasons) is welcome! If you want to volunteer, check in with da twins &/or for fas-kine orientation. Volunteers are appreciated!
For those making food, 5:15 drop off is ideal, ideally in serving ware u don’t need back. If u do need it back and can’t stay, make a plan with someone for pickup. All food is vegan (preferred) or vegetarian.
We can also use:
- to-go containers with lids for pos-fnb distro (please be sure these are very clean, ideally with no labels).
- clean, de-labeled plastic beverage containers with lids (must be the original lid or at least one that 100% fits, please). All sizes!
- Hygiene items such as body wipes, menstrual products, adult diapers, shampoo, soap, etc.
- TOWELS
- Tote bags (actually ANY clean cloth bag of any size size is great)
- Rain gear/supplies
- small tarps & plastic shower curtains
- clean aluminum serving pans (steel is even better of course)
- lots more! Just ask!
Mahalo everyone!!!
