Food Not Bombs - Oʻahu

Food Not Bombs - Oʻahu SUMMER HOURS: Sunday, 6PM @ Thomas Square (Beretania side) Anyone who wants to cook may cook, and anyone who wants to eat may eat.

We are dedicated to Kānāwai Māmalahoe ( “Law of the Splintered Paddle”), which says people must be protected from abuse, & Nīʻaupiʻo Kolowalu, which requires that a hungry person MUST be fed. Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer global movement that shares free vegan and vegetarian meals as a protest to war and poverty. Each chapter collects surplus food that would otherwise go to waste from grocery

stores, bakeries and markets, as well as donations from local farmers, then prepares community meals which are served for free to anyone who is hungry. The central beliefs of the group are:

* Always vegan or vegetarian and free to everyone.
* Each chapter is independent and autonomous and makes decisions using the consensus process.
* Food Not Bombs is dedicated to nonviolence. Food Not Bombs works to call attention to poverty and homelessness in society by sharing food in public places and facilitating gatherings of poor and homeless people. Food Not Bombs strives to include everyone. For more information on the Food Not Bombs movement, please check out:

stands against war, especially imperialist wars launched by the bullies of the world, including the United States, Israel, and all of the other real terrorists, dropping bombs on innocent people right now. we are a food-sharing protest, not charity. We are rooted in the indigenous laws of. Kānāwai Māmalahoe, which protects those with less power from those who have more power, and Nīʻaupiʻo Kolowalu , which declares that anyone on the island of Oahu, who has food must share with those who do not.

We are going through some identity shifts right now, which happens in multicultural collective work a lot.

Stay tuned. And stay strong.

Mahalo to everyone who helped! We need help again this Sunday 4/19/26, because several of our main cooks are still out! Please drop off donations of prepared vegetarian food at 5:45 at Thomas Square, on the Beretania side across from the Art Academy. Disposable containers are best, unless you can stay until the food is gone (volunteer servers are also appreciated!) or arrange container pickup with someone -- we can usually figure something out. Mahalo nui loa!!!

Honolulu 3/8/26: posting a lil late again!
Mahalo nui to everyone who made awesome food, volunteered to serve, or any other part of this wonderful effort.
Let us remember that at its heart, the movement is a PROTEST, not a charity soup kitchen. We run on consensus and we share and distribute food, NOT “feeding the poor.” We all participate, we all eat, and anyone who cares enough is a participant in consensual decision making. The idea is to dissolve hierarchical structures and grow mutuality. And it is called “Food NOT BOMBS” for a reason. This food action is a protest against WAR & MILITARISM, which the bogus hewa machine calling itself a “government” constantly prioritizes over basic CARE for the PEOPLE.
Food Not Bombs O’ahu is additionally dedicated to restoration of Indigenous Kanaka Maoli sovereignty (real, not fake) based upon the ancient laws of Kānāwai Māmalahoe & Niĩ’aupi’o Kolowalu. We are reclaiming the original Indigenous concept of Mutual Aid and applying it to our Nation’s current exercise of governance by the people.
We set up every Sunday at 5:30 PM, and serve at 6. Everyone (except cops, who may eat at a distance for safety reasons) is welcome! If you want to volunteer, check in with da twins &/or for fas-kine orientation. Volunteers are appreciated!
For those making food, 5:15 drop off is ideal, ideally in serving ware u don’t need back. If u do need it back and can’t stay, make a plan with someone for pickup. All food is vegan (preferred) or vegetarian.
We can also use:
- to-go containers with lids for pos-fnb distro (please be sure these are very clean, ideally with no labels).
- clean, de-labeled plastic beverage containers with lids (must be the original lid or at least one that 100% fits, please). All sizes!
- Hygiene items such as body wipes, menstrual products, adult diapers, shampoo, soap, etc.
- TOWELS
- Tote bags (actually ANY clean cloth bag of any size size is great)
- Rain gear/supplies
- small tarps & plastic shower curtains
- clean aluminum serving pans (steel is even better of course)
- lots more! Just ask!
Mahalo everyone!!!
