Hey friends! It’s been a minute so I just wanted to check in. I’ve been running all over lately between sports, caterings and trying to keep life in order. Getting a lot of book work done too making wholesale menus and working on labels. The first full week of October I am going to be slammed (6 events!) so I have been able to get planning done for that as well. I am hoping to start opening once a week after that, so mid October. I am still here, still hustling, just adapting to a new normal. I have a TON of dry packed meals made and ready to go as well, I will be going to the post office soon to get an idea on shipping! 🍽️

📸: New catering menu item and probably the best pasta I’ve ever had!!! Creamy sausage garlic & herb radiatori- shout out to my girl Danielle Carter for the recipe!!! 🤤

Ps- I will NOT be open during the Homecoming this weekend. We have plans to be out of town so we will be CLOSED. I hope everyone has a great weekend between homecoming and the Blair Farm Fall Festival!! Sad we are missing it but will enjoy a weekend away 🍂❤️

Hey food lovers! I’ve had a little something up my sleeve for the past few weeks and after a couple meetings, I’m so happy to announce a small expansion of my delicious food items! Starting in October, D.L. Southend will be housing Porch Swing Bakery & Kitchen sandwiches, wraps, soups, cheesecake, salads, freezer meals and home style single serve meals. I’m so blessed for the opportunity to work with another small business and help each other fill a void. She’s got the demand, I’ve got the supply! So if you’re in the Duck Lake area or you frequent the General Store, be sure to pop in for some delicious food (along with many other items) and a warm hello from the owners!!! 🦆

Starting immediately, I will NOT be open for retail with any specific business hours. I will still be providing dry packed meals and freezer meals for pickup or delivery. I will post each week what specific day and time in which I will be open for you to come in and shop for those items. I will not keep stock any lunch or dessert items at this time. I will also be declining any personal orders under $100. Moving forward I will be focusing solely on meals and event catering (both food and dessert). Shifting our space from a retail storefront to a production kitchen facility only.

Before you visit, please check this page. This is where I will be posting any and all updates and announcements. What days I will be open, what times, what I’ll have etc.

The crazy thing about life is that it truly is unpredictable. No matter how much you plan. No matter how much you prepare. You never end up where you thought you would, but that’s also what keeps it exciting. I have put my faith in God with this business every step of the way since the market began to shift. I’m confident that he will continue to guide me down the path I’m suppose to be. Sometimes the road is smooth, sometimes it’s bumpy, and sometimes there’s a complete roadblock. The most important thing is that I continue to move forward in whatever direction that keeps me grounded, keeps the integrity of my business and keeps us above water. Thank you to everyone who’s been along for the ride, we are still chugging along. Stay tuned friends! ❤️🍽️

Looking for lunch today?!

Pop over to the Dollar General in Concord to see my guy at Southern Boy Bar B Que! Best barbecue you’ll ever have! We always order the smoked chicken nachos… and no, they are not spicy! Truly a flavor all its own, Peewee knows what he’s doing! 🍗💨🔥

Happy Hump Day! Just wanted to show off this delicious dinner we made last night. I didn’t feel like cooking and couldn’t figure out what sounded good, so I snagged one of my dry packed meals from the shop and omgoodness it was so good. I added ham and bacon! I am going to be more intentional about making these and keeping them stocked. They are shelf stable for months and months, and they can also be shipped!

But the best part is that they are budget friendly! It’s no secret that everyone is feeling the pinch and cutting back. These dry packed meals are 1/2 the cost of my freezer meals because they are far cheaper and easier to make. Plus they cook much faster. Not do***ng my freezer meals lol they are the BEST however you do have more budget friendly options when shopping with me. Keep them in your pantry for a lazy dinner night, take them camping or store them for food security. Either way they will taste just as fresh and delicious! I’ve been trying to think of a fun name for them just besides “dry packed meals” and I think I want to call them “Porch Swing Pantry Pouches” how’s that for a tongue twister?!

The freezer is slim and I have maybe 10 pouches on hand… so I am due for a restock. Unfortunately I don’t have the capital to spend an arm and a leg on packaging and ingredients for said restock… so I will be chipping away over the next few weeks trying to fill up the shop. As far as the retail side of things, I am going to focus soley on preparing food that can be preserved (dry or frozen). 80% of everything that I have made over the last month didn’t sell, and out of all the pre-ordered menus I maybe got 1 customer that actually ordered. So I don’t plan to continue to keep fresh food or desserts in stock at this time. But I do plan to keep a few dessert options in the freezer and MAYBE a brownie or cookie flavor for the days I plan on being open. That being said, I don’t know what hours will look like moving forward. Business is so slow that I’m not getting foot traffic even being open just 1 day a week, I can’t risk being open more days just to throw more away. It’s been a struggle adapting to the market on the retail end of things.

I will be closed this Friday for the Holiday weekend and starting after that I will post each week what day I will be open and what is available. Days and hours will change each week and I will post every weekend what the upcoming week will look like. So many food businesses are closing because of the rising costs of food and utilities and losing foot traffic, it’s so sad to see and we will do everything we can to not have to cross that bridge. Thank you all for hanging in there, we are doing our best to keep rockin & rollin 🩷✨🍽️
