Fire Grill began as a spark of an idea, actually a lighter. I was camping with a few friends across the bay after hiking Sadie's k**b. We had some marinated meat in a cooler for when we got back, and someone had the bright idea to make shishkababs with that meat and some mushrooms we foraged on the trail. We started a fire using alder and got to cooking
I've worked in many fine dining restaurants, eaten fancy plates all over the world, but in that moment, it was the best thing I've ever eaten. Being outside, on the beach, with meat cooked over a fire, I thought to myself " how do I share this Taste Of Homer with the world".
Thus, Fire Grill was born.
Taking this passion forward, I've teamed up with local stores, fisherman, farmers, arborists, and restaurants, to create a Homer restaurant made with homemade sauces, spices, and marinades.
All real ingredients, all grilled over a real alder wood fire, purchased locally to create a Homer experience for all. Our wood fired passion for this town, is found with the flavors we create, using simple, real, rugged ingredients. Just like us Alaskans, our flavors are strong and fueled by fire.
We are open in the lovely River Cafe, partnering together in the indoor space from 4-10 Wednesday thru Sunday. This location will be closed this Saturday (6/7)
This Saturday we will be at Homer harbor fest!! Come by and groove to some incredible bands, and a watch as Chef Karl Aamoth and sous chef Bryan DeWitt from Fire grill compete in the title for 1st place at the Homer chefs competition!! It will be at the harbor fest from 11- 2!!
Much love, Homer!!
